At this point, I don't believe it is public. But, it is a good selection and you won't be disappointed.

Let us know if you're looking for something specific. If it's not in the 5,000 or so movies already includeded on your Vudu, your requests let us know what titles we should try to add to library. No promises, but we'll do our best to deliver the shows you want to watch.

I only setup my vudu yesterday so maybe it hasn't loaded everything yet.

But I noticed that not a lot of movies are available yet.

Also, I have nothing listed in my New Releases. Does that just take time to populate?

As far as requests - TV SHOWS! I've got the heroes DVDs now, but I would've loved to have watched them thru vudu instead of DVD.

This is a legitimate question and will be one that I am sure users will ask once their boxes start arriving.

When you receive your box it is blank with nothing on it. Two things will likely happen. Your box will upgrade to the most recent firmware and second your box will be seeded with the most recent movie database.

The seeding of the database is done at relatively low bandwidth so as to not interfere with other network activity (this is different than when you are watching a movie). Secondly, the seeding only occurs when the box is idle and you are not doing anything on the box. So the seeding will take some time and it may take a couple three days to get the full movie catalog available to you. Just be patient and it will come.

As for TV shows, from what I have read in the press, this is something that Vudu is working on negotiating with the studios. Cripe, if I could get all my favorite shows on demand, I just might cancel my cable subscription.

That's the power of this box. It literally has the ability to 100% change teh way our entertainment comes into our home. I have felt for some time that in 10 years, broadcast TV is going to start going away. It's all going to be on demand - when you want it. Vudu just might be that device that starts that trend...

            Re: Movie Library

Hey, there definitely isn't a web based directory/library of all the movies. I have suggested this, so let's hope! Also, features I suggested are:

            - Adding Movies to your Wish List on Vudu from Web
            - Activate Downloading Movies from the web (triggering the box download)
            - Suggest new Movies via the Web
            - Ability to rate and comment movies on the web, which will show up on the box

There is not a list of all the movies available. In part it has to do with the content change of the catalog. We do not want to publish list just to let them go out of date.

                Re: Movie Library

The one thing that bothers me about the studios and downloading content is the way they decide to share content. Some movies you can rent...others you can buy. At any time you may not be able to rent or buy a particular movie. The entire process seems sort of random to an end user. I don't know all the facts on how these factors are decided and I am sure it's not all random but it's just annoying for a user. Ya know?!

I agree that the studio's would cut off their nose spite their face. They still don't have a true handle on the "New Media".

I have looked at other VOD services over the last few years and they also seem to have this issue where content becomes available, then it disappears, and then comes back for no reason.

Could you imagine if the studio did this with the local video store or DVD sales on Amazon or Best Buy. You can only buy / rent the DVD until it shows up on the cable movie channels. Once its out of that rotation it goes back on sale. Then when its on tier B rotation its taken off the shelves again. Bad model...
