    Cancellation Procedure

    Per TOS (Terms of Service):
    Refunds:
You may cancel your VUDU Service Account at any time by following the procedures at http://www.vudu.com/faq.html. Any remaining cash balance in your VUDU Service account will be refunded at that time. Any movie viewing charges are non-refundable. Any VUDU Rewards you may have accrued are non-refundable.

Where is this procedure on the FAQ page?

Darn good question. Sounds like a bug in the documentation. For now I guess you should contact Customer Care if you need to cancel your service.

I don't think its in there because they don't know what to do. I took me 3 weeks and 5 phone call plus 3 emails to finally get my account canceled and a refund started. I have still not seen the money yet but at least my account is closed now.

Just curious, on December 19th you posted at http://forum.vudu.com/showthread.php?p=13907#post13907 that you were going to wait at least another 28 days to decide to cancel. Based on my math is sounds like you actually waited about 28 hours. Please tell us your story and why the inconsistancy?

Agreed. And you said the biggest disappointment was lack of HD content. We couldn't say anything at the time, but we knew it was going to be announced soon which it was. You would have had 70 HD titles with more to come by the end of the month...

I'm always amazed at people who leave a product but hang around the forums. It's not just here - it's everywhere. Nothing wrong with it I don't guess, but just kinda strange.

                Wow, lets pile on.

I returned the product because there was no HD content at that time. Yes there will be soon as you mentioned. I've been burned by many other "technology" company that make promises. I wont mention any names of those failed companies. I also need to have CC in my house. After getting the Vudu and trying it out I found there was no CC and it sounds like it wont be coming soon.

My complaint is Vudu was quick to take my $20 when I signed up but couldn't figure out how to give it back when the service was canceled.

And "meddy" I'm still hanging around looking for updates on when some of those missing features might be fixed. I have not totally written the Vudu off from my house but I'm not about to keep a product around that I might or might not use just because its cool. I really didn't know there was some unwritten code about looking at a forum if you didn't own the product.

I really hope more HD is really on the horizon. And I hope its more then 70. And I really hope the get the CC issue resolved by whoever the issues belongs to. I would love to come back but cant at this time.

I wish the folks at Vudu cared as much as the people on this forum do.

                  Re: Cancellation Procedure

Well, I can guarantee you that there is going to be HD at the end of the month. It's not an empty promise. And it looks damn good too. And yes, that HD content will grow and grow.

As for CC, well, that's something that is a ways off. I think Vudu wants to support it but as has been stated, it's not easy. First of all, it won't be "CC". That's not possible over HDMI and so forth. But it could end up having subtitles at some point. I think Vudu wants to do this but there are other things like HD content that have a higher priority.

As for the return of your $20, it's a manual process that has to be done by hand. Send a PM to JohnA and ask him to help.

                    It's meBBY

And sorry - I wasn't trying to say that you were a bad person or anything. In fact I said that there was nothing wrong with it. But I WILL say... while I think it's absolutely normal to continue browsing the forums of a product that you have purchased and returned to follow the developments I don't see much value in posting negative comments b/c they will always be received as "coming from the guy with an agenda."

I still drop in and browse the Roku forums from time to time to see how they're coming along even though I no longer use any of their products.

Anyway - didn't mean to come across and indicating that I thought you shouldn't browse the forums.

                      Re: Cancellation Procedure

                      Whoops. Sorry Mebby.

Its funny you mention Roku. Thats one of several companies that left me hangin. Not to mention Moviebeam, Directv/Tivo and ReplayTV. Lots of boxes piling up in the garage.

I guess I did take it a little personal when you said "I'm always amazed at people who leave a product but hang around the forums". Especially now that you have admitted lurking Roku. Not a big deal.

As I mentioned I would love to Vudu to be the next big thing. Am I sorry I don't have the balls anymore to live on the bleeding edge. Yes.

I didn't think my comments were that negative. Maybe a little short and curt but not negative. And as I told someone else in a PM, I probably would not have said a word if Vudu could have fixed this the first or second phone call.

They only agenda I have is to push this product ahead. I think "subtitles" are a huge deal here. Especially when watching British movies. Right now $400 is too steep for me for something that is missing a piece that I need for folks in my house. So..... I will continue to read the forums and if one of those thresholds are crossed I will head back out and get another Vudu.

I did love it when I had it.

Yea - I abandoned Roku for the Sonos. Big price jump I know but I've never looked back. I also abandoned the Roku Photobridge for XBMC as I was mainly using the Photobridge as a DVD Jukebox. I still like the company and hope they do well.

Here's to hoping that Vudu becomes the next big thing. I think they've got a great start!

Well, I'm a big Roku and ReplayTV fan and I'm wondering why your ReplayTV's are in the garage. 3 of the 4 moderators here are all big ReplayTV buffs and know a lot about the system and I'm sure we could either help ya use them or take them off your hands!

But, hey, we are getting off track here...
