    New Forum Format

I see that today (3/7/13), the forum format has changed. I like the new colors, etc. but I don't like that it no longer shows when we were last logged in to the forum so that we can read only newer posts. Also, I don't think that they even mentioned that they were going to change the forum format, did they?

whether they did ask or not, it's inevitable it was going to happen. Change always does and all though we might have gotten to add our thoughts about the change, I'm sure we wouldn't have been able to stop it

Don't the threads show BOLD if being new since last logged in ?

That's the way I'm seeing the threads with new posts. Also the icons next to a thread will show if there are new posts. Open envelope has new posts, closed envelope there are no new posts.

        Re: New Forum Format

I have to get used to the new appearance of the Vudu forum.

On more than one occasion I have written to the administrators to request some enhancements. One of the items I hoped they would allow is the ability to create polls.

It would be cool to create a poll that asks Vudu forum members, for example, which devices they use for watching steaming videos:

        1. Desktop PC
        2. Laptop PC
        3. Desktop Mac
        4. Laptop Mac
        5. Tablet
        6. Smartphone
        7. Smart TV
        8. Smart Blu-ray player
        9. Playstation
        10. Roku

        etc.

        The possibilities are endless.

Obviously, we do not want to see any bogus polls such as "How many toes do you have?"

It would also be good for Vudu forum admins to add the ever-popular "SPOILER TAG" so that when discussing movies, spoilers will not openly be revealed.

Sadly, Vudu forum administrators have not considered my requests.

I see we can now add You Tube video. Thank you for that. It's been long overdue for a forum that caters to movie and TV buffs.

This is a video that was published when Vudu first debuted on the Playstation 3. It has come along way since then. Notice the original interface.

Thank you to the Vudu Forum Administrators for making the forum even better. Keep up the good work!

Has any one noticed if this new design is a step towards being able to use it with TapaTalk ?

Tapatalk would work with the previous forum layout.

It's just a matter of the admins enabling it by installing a plugin. Perhaps the Vudu forum administrators do not know what Tapatalk is (but they should).

Tapatalk (www.tapatalk.com) is an add-on for vBulletin to allow uses with iPhones, Droids, Blackberrys, and other smart phones to easily view and post on your forum.

Yes, they show in bold but without knowing the date and time, you still don't know at what point to start reading the postings so you may end up reading the same posts that you already read before. Know what I mean? When I can see the time I last logged in, I would only read those that were posted after that time frame.

                Re: New Forum Format

As usual we find out from a customer/user about changes AFTER the fact instead of from Vudu.

Where are all the other web features that many of us have been asking for, like sorting our movies? Is there something about the changes to the forum that provide some benefit to us?

On the top left (under the FORUM) button, I see a link for NEW POSTS.

I haven't tried it. Have you? Maybe it will do what you need.

Yes it works but for all posts. I'm only interested in the "Disc to Digital and UltraViolet" thread.

                        Re: New Forum Format

Lujan, when you have a list of threads (either the forum view or the New Posts view), just click on the little circle that appears to the left of the thread title and the right of the envelope with pages in it. If you hover over it, the alt text may pop up (depending on your browser) saying "Go to first new post". As long as you are logged in, it will go to the first unread post.

I just do "New Posts" then "View First Unread" all the way down the list to keep things tidy...I think there's some name psychologists give that

PS: The smilies were better on the old board

They've acknowledged Tapatalk support as an enhancement request:

                            http://forum.vudu.com/showthread.php...patalk-support

Whether we see it or not is a different matter.

As for the new look here, I like it!

I'm not a fan of the new forum layout. I preferred the vBulletin style. I think all forums need a User Control panel interface to be able to check subscribed threads, change profile info, private messages, etc...Its too spread out now under three or four different drop down boxes.

I guess I'll just have to get used to it. No big deal
