    Another Head Scratcher

So since Fandango purchase Vudu I always get these Emails from Fandango. So Fandango has a $5 Movie sale going on and i checled it out and there was one movie I wanted ..... Primal. So the first thing I check for was to see if it was in Vudu and it is and Vudu wanted $12.99 so I purchased it from Fandango, but it never transferred to Vudu. So I called Vudu and asked why and after the 15 minutes of waiting to talk to someone and then the next 10 minutes for him to understand what my problem was because he didnt speak english very well, and then another 10 minutes to probably ask someone else, im guessing here I was on hold, I get told that it won't transfer over to Vudu because it not in Movie ANywhere, Now please correct me Fandango purchased Vudu and not Movie Anywhere correct .... so why does it have to be in Movies Anywhere to transfer. So what do I need to do now before I buy a movie Check Movies Anywhere to see if its in there then check Vudu to see if its in there and waste 15 minutes of my time.

Yes. You will need to check both Vudu and Fandango to see if they have the MA logo, then check the MA site for the movie just in case. With studio licenses, it's hard to transfer titles, even if Fandango bought Vudu. I do think having a way to transfer titles from Fandango to Vudu would be nice, but again studios would have to clear it for every title and it would be a hassle for most involved probably. You'd have better luck at Lionsgate joining MA... which I wish would happen!

Same here. Always check that all have MA logo before I purchase elsewhere besides Vudu.

Even when they both do I also check the pricing as Fandango often is a lower price, esp since they seem to have more sales / deeper discounts then Vudu.

Also Fandango often lets you buy a FN gift-card for anywhere up to 30% off face value. Use it on sales titles and great deal.

Always check FandangoNow movies for the MA symbol. I have found a couple of movies from Fandango that Movies Anywhere will "port" over to Vudu, yet Fandango's movie info page DOES NOT HAVE THE MA SYMBOL...So obviously, making you movies shareable/portable to other services is obviously a company decision and not written in stone. I'm sure MA charges a fee and that could be another reason.

I'm still hoping at some point FN and Vudu accounts will merge and the non MA movies will end up on Vudu; or whatever platform we end up.

First why would Fandango pay movies anywhere to transfer movies when they own Vudu , Second why is Movies Anywhere even involved in any of this ? I know there must be some reason for it but to the average person for Fandango to go through Movies anywhere to get there movies into Vudu when Fandango owns Vudu seems pretty stupid

              It is what it is.

MA is the only remaining service that links various 3rd party streaming services.

FN bought Vudu but for now they are still largely separated. If and when this changes no one has any idea.

For now if you want a purchase on one service to appear on another service it must be a MA title; even if it's just between FN and Vudu.

thank you for attempting to help me understand this, i still think its stupid !!!
have a great days and thank everyone who replied
