    VUDU/Walmart Disc to Digital?

Have a couple of questions concerning the new VUDU/Walmart Disc to *Digital service.

1: DVD to HD copy is $5. Is the HD copy a 1080p HDX with 5.1 DD+ that can be played from the VUDU site or the Ultraviolet site?

2: Will a list be provided so you know which movies this can be done with (I know it's only certain studios but not all titles)?

3: So you put the DVD's in a bag and shlep then to Walmart and get in the Customer Service line or will there be a detected area for this?

4: Any chance of a DVD to 3D HD conversion/price?

*Pet peeve of mine that is done all the time by referring to CD's DVD's & BD's as if they were not digital and only digital if they are downloaded files.

EDIT: Mods please move to proper forum. Sorry, I just noticed we have a new detected forum for this new service.

I'm an associate for Walmart. You'll be able to go to the Photo Center for Digital Conversion. If you bring in a bluray it will cost 2 dollars and will be available in HDX. 3D would be awesome but im pretty sure its not available just yet but I could be mistaken.

Will HD DVDs be counted as DVDs? Since they are still technically a DVD.

I would not say DVD at Walmart - it'll cost you $5. I'd say they are technically a Blu-ray with a $2 conversion price.

I would agree. Misinformed associates could mistakenly think its a dvd. As far as I know DVD's and BluRays are what is available through the service. If it is indeed HD then it should technically be converted into HD.

if they do take HD DVDs and it will only be $2 per title. I will be bringing stacks of discs in for this service. I'll need to go through the list this evening and find a few titles to test it out with.

Call them Blu-ray High Definition DVDs since the discs can only be read by blue laser players such as the LG BH200. If I can convert those things for $2, I will do that.

Was it a Neighborhood Market WalMart? If not, all WalMart's should do it. Now I would not suprise me if your store or that employee had never done it before...or never heard of it.

They ALL DO IT. All Walmarts, without exception. You sadly got a customer service rep who was not familiar with the service, but YES they all do it.

                          This is true.

If you found a store that wouldn't do it for you, please let us know which store it was in a private message.

I've also had it done in the Cell Phone section.

I'm really getting tired of my local Walmart DENYING ME this service.

Friday: go to Walmart with a bag of movies and a printed list for in-store D2D. Associate has no idea what I am talking about and goes on about copyright protection. I go home and file a complaint.

Saturday: get a message on my phone from an assistant manager saying that they will be conducting a training in the afternoon and that they will get me taken care of.

Monday: go back with my same bag of movies. Associate, who is familiar with the program, tells me they can't do it because they don't have the equipment for it.

What type of equipment do you need for this? From my understanding, all they do is manually put the movies in my VUDU cart, right? Do some Walmart locations actually not have the capability to do this because of equipment?

All I want to do is put these D2D eligible movies (that don't work on my PC) in my VUDU account, it shouldn't be that hard, but it is.
