Re: Three key questions for Disc to Digital

Would anyone with the BD actually pay to only get the SD version?

Another question: a customer has a Blu-ray but the movie is only available in SD, so the customer pays $2 to access the SD version. When the HD/HDX versions become available, will there be an additional charge to access them? Will the customer have to bring the disc back again?

    1) Library - A lot of movies are not on Vudu, or are only available for purchase in SD even though the BD version is out. Movies not on Vudu include things like The English Patient and Star Wars, examples that are critical to my movie library. If a movie is not on Vudu, will they expand the library to cover all of the movies under the participating studios? If not, will they still entitle a disc for playback on Vudu even though it may not be for sale on Vudu?

    2) Organization - Right now, the My Vudu library only filters by TV and Movies. There is no sorting, and it appears the movies are listed first in, first out. This is fine if you have 10-20 movies, but not if you have 300+. Will a filtering and sorting option be available, similar to the 'Browse' filter? If not, I do not believe a large library is viable to manage in Vudu.

    3) Ultraviolet - I'm confused about how Vudu will support Ultraviolet. Can you watch movies purchased on other Ultraviolet-compatible services on Vudu? And vice versa? Can you enter a code for a Ultraviolet BD and get the digital version for free? I have not seen much detail here, so just need some clarification.

If anyone has insight here, it would be greatly appreciated. The answers to these questions will determine the approach I take for centralized media at my new house that I'm moving into in a couple of months.
I hope I can offer some insight...

    1) I am in total agreement with you on these points, I guess they will be answered by the time the rollout begins....

    2) I have 325 movies on VUDU, in addition to movies on my media server..I do not have an issue with scrolling though my films, but your suggestion is very valid and would make it easier.....Another consideration is you internet connection and possible outages, bandwidth caps, etc...Hopefully, downloading will be allowed to help remedy this....

    3) The way I understand it is eventually the Ultraviolet digital locker will be the place one can store their films, no matter where they bought them, whether disc or digital...Check out this link: http://uvdemystified.com/uvfaq.html.....It may answer at lot of questions you have, maybe not VUDU-specific, but it gives insight about UV......
