I want to know this too, before I VUDU2GO certain titles. I DON'T want to get double-dipped. If it doesn't auto-upgrade when using a Blu-Ray disc to verify ownership, then I'll hold off until the HDX version is actually available and pay my $2 then and just watch the Blu-Ray in the interim.

Hopefully right will be done by everyone and the type of media used to convert to UV will be logged and the appropriate "version" granted based on $ spent. That is, if I use a Blu disc and pay $2, I should (barring HDX not yet being available yet) be eligible for HDX. Seems like the SD should just be a "placeholder" until the higher def version comes online.

This has been asked and answered a bunch of times but not in this thread though as far as I know. Basically you get what was added when you purchased it. If it was only available in SD when you added it that's what you get. No auto upgrades. You pay again if you want it in HDX when it's available. It's unfortunate, but that's the way it's been since the beginning. I've tested it with a couple movies that I assumed would not be HDX (Night of the Creeps was the first one) and it did not auto upgrade when it became HDX. I had to pay again if I wanted it HDX. I contacted Vudu and they said there was nothing they could do. So, the best advice is either wait, or expect to pay twice depending on how bad you want it in your locker. On the other hand, if you get it HD through other services like Cinemanow or Sony it will be HDX when Vudu gets the HD rights to the movie.

Is HD streaming on tablets and phones on the horizon anytime soon? I have alot of HDX, but its a shame I can only download or stream SD while on the go...

            Regarding:
            5. If I purchase a movie to own on VUDU, will it automatically be added to my UV account?
            a. As long as the movie is available for UltraViolet redemption and your VUDU and UltraViolet accounts are linked together, the title should be added and accessible through both your UltraViolet locker and VUDU account. Look for the UltraViolet logo to see if a movie is UltraViolet-compatible.

How come some of my vudu purchases do not show up in my UVVU account? The digital purchases in vudu have the UVVU logo, example is Ted Unrated, or the Snitch. Both I have purchased but they are not showing up in my ultraviolet account that I have linked.

Although some movies that I got free for signing up to vudu (Knight's Tale for example) show up in my UVVU....

            Please advice.

            Thanks

That's odd. Ted (Unrated) should have been added to your UVVU account. I just bought that on Vudu a few weeks ago and it was added to my UVVU account. I just looked again and it's still there.

Ted (Unrated) and Snitch should now show in your UV library. Looks like it may have taken a bit for the movies to sync.

                  Re: UltraViolet FAQ's

OK, so I've just finished re-reading through this thread, and it's now as clear as mud.

You are limited to one Vudu account for each UV account, or each UV member? (Looking at the UV site, you can have up to 5 members on one account, so I'm trying to keep my terminology straight.)

Basically, I've got a friend who I'd like to set up to share my UV movies with, and she has a smart TV with Vudu on it. I'd trust her to set her up on my Vudu account...although she does have two boys, so I'd prefer to set her up with her own Vudu account and UV membership, and add her UV membership to my account.

Any advice on how to best do this? I'm going to be doing all this for her, so I might as well do it right and save myself a headache.

Simple to do. Have her create a VUDU account but do not create a new UV account. You create a Standard Member account under your UV locker and she links her VUDU account to that Standard member account. BINGO!

Thanks E55KEV, I'll try it that way. I knew the order might matter, but having never done this before, it wasn't clear...except that if I did it incorrectly, I might be stuck not being able to re-link my UV and Vudu accounts!

Also, be aware that this will be your 'Cap' on Vudu connections for your UV group (until/unless Vudu gets the 2-connection limit removed).

Hello, I was wondering. If I purchase a movie through VUDU that is not Ultraviolet compatible but then becomes Ultraviolet compatible at a future date, will it be automatically added to my Ultraviolet locker? Or would I have to purchase the movie again?

Yes, it will be automatically added to your locker. I've had this happen with many movies. (I was actually using Vudu before Ultraviolet was a thing. )
