As this is an 'oversight' by the store employees, you should not be able to convert an HD-DVD in Vudu2Go D2D. Some of them are double sided with a DVD copy onthe reverse, these you should be able to do for $5 ($2.50 during the promo period with 10 or more)

        Re: Will they take HD-DVD's?

I just recently started using Vudu and D2D and I have a massive Blu ray and HD-DVD collection. I had no idea this forum existed, so I will share my experience before I learned about this thread.

I had a few discs that couldn't be read and a few that needed manually verifying. I decided to take them to Wal-Mart. I called them first to ask about the process and what I needed to bring in. The person explained the process in detail and was very knowledgeable. The employee cautioned me though that they are "supposed" to stamp the discs with a Wal-Mart stamp and that some people do not like that. He said that some stores are not doing it but they should be. I asked him about HD-DVD's, as I had no idea if they could be used, and he said that they now have approval to use them and they place HD-DVD's into the HD/blu ray category. As a consumer, I had a question, so I went to the source and that was the answer.

I did call two other Wal-Mart's in my area to ask about the stamp and they all said they stamp the discs. I went in to a different Wal-Mart that was closer to work (different from the one I specifically asked about HD-DVD's) and took a few discs, including a few HD-DVD's. I only took a few because I was not sure about the stamp, and I prefer to have the at home 50% off promotion. This associate also was fully aware of the process and commented on the HD-DVD's. We even had a discussion about our HD-DVD collection and how at the time we both felt it was more advanced.

I am not sure if it is an oversight, great customer service, internal understanding/approval, or some other reason, but the stores around me are fully aware of the process, the associates know what HD-DVD's are and have stated they have been approved to accept them.

I mentioned a much shorter version of this in another thread recently and was told by another posted that I was taking advantage of misinformed employees. That simply does not make any sense though. As a consumer I had a question I did not know the answer to, so I asked the representative who is trained to know the answer.

Good to know, I now remember a thread from about 6 months ago regarding this (and the possibility of doing VHS) and did not recall the outcome. Still, wouldn't expect any support in the app.

I thought this topic was dead and resolved but I guess not...

            D2D is for Blu-ray discs and DVD's.

Whether or not a store accepts HD-DVD formatted discs is coincidental.
