Actually - currently you cannot purchase HD or HDX unless you have an activated device that supports those qualities (idea is to prevent customers from buying something they can't watch and then calling customer care - this might be changed to a "strong warning" in the future as some customers do want to buy HDX for future use...)

Just a wild guess, then - could your device have been deactivated? If not, sounds like it could be a bug related to this "feature". Oh - and was this just for Forrest Gump, or for all titles?

Re: FORREST GUMP UPGRADE TO HDX?

This is the first time I've noticed this issue. Normally I rent, and usually the 99? special at that. But I've rented HDX streams many times with my Sony Blue Ray player. It's my only registered device. I was using it to try to buy the movie.

Edit: I just tried again, and I was successful in getting the HDX stream. Now I just need to get a 1080 TV! I hope it's widescreen.

I checked and re-encode is still pending, probably waiting for the correct stream from the studio...

Re: FORREST GUMP UPGRADE TO HDX?

This is unrelated to the forest Gump thing... but since content is being addressed... the D2D list shows both "Superman 2" and "Superman 2: The Richard Donner Cut" but they both seem to link to the same movie (the regular superman 2)...

Even though the movies have the same plot the changes give a very different (more serious) feel to the RD cut making them in effect very different movies So if the RD cut is not available for streaming you may want to take it off the D2D list.

The same goes for Army of Darkness vs 'Bruce Campbell vs. Army of Darkness: The Director's Cut - Official Bootleg Edition'

Though those are in effect the same movie with a few extra scenes and an ALT ending... well you know how persnickety us cult movie fans can be... and I would have been... annoyed to have my Bootleg Edition stamped only to find out i got the wrong movie...

Fortunately for me in both in both cases I was going to do D2D for both versions at the same time so I saw that they linked to the same film before taking them in.

              Hello Vudu fans ...

It's been 5 months and I still don't have the correct stream of Forrest Gump. I really would like a 5.00 credit and forget the whole thing.

You are likely to get the credit if you ask for it because I got it. I'm still waiting for the corrected version of the movie since around the beginning of May. Don't know why they are so slow at correcting movies that are encoded wrong? Even if you have to go to the studio, you would think it would be faster than this?

I just sent an email to Vudu support asking for a 5.00 credit ASAP! This issue will be resolved for me once the credit is applied to my account. I've been very patient about this issue. I'm done. I want my money back. I own around 200 movies through Vudu's service. I think they can reimburse me the 5.00.

You might get faster service if you call them. I've been pleased with their support by phone.

Forrest Gump is now available with the correct aspect ratio. Our apologies for the wait.

It's cropped to 16x9. The correct aspect ratio is 2.35:1. But 16x9 is better than 4:3, so thanks for the upgrade.

I finally played my copy of Forrest Gump. The sound is reporting as Dolby Digital +, but in 2.0. Why isn't it in 5.1 (at least)? My DVD of this movie sounds a lot better than this.
