    Some Disc To Digital news

    http://recombu.com/digital/news/sony...12_M10654.html

Nothing too exciting, but at least they are still working on it. This article is about the UK D2D being launched, but there is some stuff in the article about it in general. They say by the end of the year we should be seeing much more support for it including the at home D2D.

Actually, it is a little bit exciting to hear that Amazon and Bestbuy will be supporting UV in the fall. It would be very nice to be able to redeem, purchase and watch movies without having to create accounts with each studio and retailer like how it is now. I wish vudu would add that functionality. I have been locked out of my paramount account, so I can't redeem any more titles from them.

As for Paramount you could always create a dummy paramount account and a second UV account within your main account and link them together. UV lets you have 5 additional sub accounts. So basically create an additional user at UVVU with a new name and password (it's under the Our Account section at UVVU). Create a new paramount account and link the 2 together. You will still see the movies under your main UV account. You just need a second e-mail address to do that.

        Hi Echo,

Still learning about UV so wondered why paramount locked you out?

Has there been any news on Lionsgate? I keep reading that they are UV... but as of yet have seen no UV content by them.

They are an UV alliance member but have yet to announce plans to distribute UV titles. There are quite a few companies that are UV alliance members that have yet to do anything regarding UV unfortunately. It will come in time.

I'm a new D2D user and called LionsGate to see if they had an alternate UV code for the remake of "Conan the Barbarian" since the digital copy that came with my 3D Combo Pack must be copied to your PC. LionsGate tech support was totally clueless claiming they have no association with the Ultraviolet consortium. When I told them they actually did, they demanded to know where I read that and I gave them my source. I pointed out that the code they use to register their existing digital copies is a 12-digit code just like codes for UV. Then I asked them why they couldn't add the database of existing codes to the UV database so their customers could use the UV cloud. They insisted they know nothing about UV! I guess I shouldn't be surprised as I have had to "break in" two clerks at Walmart to certify my movies even though they have a huge poster advertising D2D right there at the checkout stand in the photo department!
