    Flixster looking into HD UV

I just finished talking to a Service Clerk from Flixster, i asked him if any of my 20 codes were HD quality and he said that currently Flixster only offers SD versions from any Blu-ray or DVD you buy (i am new to UV and didn't know this). However, he did say that Flixster is looking into this situation and may change to allowing UV codes for HD.

I am sure all of you know this but my question to everyone is about spending these 20 UV codes from the Flixster site. If Flixster decides to make the transfer over to allowing HD Digital Copies, will they honor people who previously purchased Blu-ray movies w/ Digital Copy and transfer their SD versions to HD?

I am worried whether to enter my codes or wait a few months to see if they make the transition to HD and maybe transfer my codes to HD.

If they are from Blu-ray movies, enter codes on the studio website to ensure getting the HD UV license (if the studio gave an HD code). Once flixster catches up with Vudu on HD support they should become available in HD if you have the right license.

Does Warner Bros have a Studio UV website? I redeemed Sherlock Holmes 2 at Flixster and got HDX. However, I contacted Flixster about getting Vudu SD for Warner Bros Project X, Hangover 2 & Journey 2 and they replied:

        "Hi Kevin,

Movies on Flixster are not currently available in HD. Sorry for the inconvenience.

IIRC Warner Bros has been sending SD codes out with most blu-rays. Regardless of where you redeem them, they are still SD UV licenses. The studios sending HD codes are Sony and Paramount (there is a whole thread about this). From what E55 said it looks like the codes that really are HD pass through from Flixster to UV just fine (good to know).

WB owns Flixster so they use it instead of having just a WB UV studio site.

I think the support guy meant that all movies on Flixster can only watched in SD. All Flixster products currently only support SD streaming and downloads but I'd expect them to allow HD downloads and streaming when the "at home D2D" launches since it'll use Flixster as the backend.

Yeah, his answer was correct but I specifically asked about not getting HDX playback on Vudu. Here is his next email reply:

              "Hi Kevin,

You should contact the Warner Bros customer support team. You can send them an email using this address: uvsupport@wb.com.

Got my email reply from Warner Bros:

                "Hello Kevin,

Digital Copy is not available in the format that you requested. These offers are good for a Standard Definition Digital Copy of the Main Feature.

Warner Home Video is committed to offering Digital Copy as widely as possible. Unfortunately, we cannot provide digital copies of our films in every media format for a variety of logistical reasons.
Thank you for taking the time to contact us. We appreciate your feedback and continued support of Warner Home Video releases.

                    I replied:

"OK, so Warner can not be consistant with the quality of their products? Seems like a huge customer service failure - because it is. If I had purchased the title on DVD instead of Blu-ray I would be a satisfied customer with the SD playback quality.

I think everyone needs to reply to uvsupport@wb.com and tell Warner that it is unacceptable to give SD Ultraviolet with Blu-ray purchases.

This is the message I sent:

"I am one of Ultraviolets biggest supporters and have been since week 1 when the format was released (I have 122 Ultraviolet movies and counting). However Warner Bros. has been doing something since its inception that is stifling the format and that is providing standard definition Ultraviolet digital copies with Blu-ray purchases. I understand that the Ultraviolet specifications do not require that HD Ultraviolet copies come with Blu-ray but it only makes sense that they should. SD DVD=SD UV, or HD BD=HD UV. Paramount and Sony understand this and provide HD Ultraviolet copies with Blu-ray purchases so why can't Warner? You need to understand that I and many other Ultraviolet customers are less likely to buy Warner Blu-ray discs because of this shortcoming and more likely to buy Sony and Paramount titles because they do come with HD copies. It is anti-consumer and sends the message that Warner doesn't care about their customers. Also the practice of not providing iTunes digital copies (which also should be HD) as an option to Ultraviolet is also anti-consumer. Please take my feedback into consideration and forward this message to upper management within Warner. Thanks.

                        Everyone should send something similar.
