    D2D not working @ my Walmart - Fuji blamed? Huh?

    I have done D2D a few times at this store but the last 2 attempts were fails. First attempt the Photo Center (PC) employee could not find the Vudu app icon. I have seen the icon on the screen before and it just was not there. She admitted she had never done it.

    Second attempt I call prior to wasting a trip to store and PC employee says D2D is working however, when I get to store he still could not find the Vudu App icon either. This employee has done before with me. I even wait around the store for an hour so he could finish printing photos and reboot the machine. After reboot and log-in still no Vudu app icon to be found.

    Today I call and PC manager says there is a service call into Fuji to fix the issue. Fuji? What does Fuji and photo printing applications have to do with D2D?

    Have them check in 'more', that is where the app was on one of the computers in the 'connection center' in electronics that they used for me once. When they used the one that was actually in Photo Center there was a Vudu icon at the bottom right, as I imagine you saw once.

      As Walmart uses a lot of FUJI equipment in their lab, likely the computer is provided by them and all of it falls under a tech support agreement with Fuji. Them having a call in to them is entirely likely I'd think.

        I work in Photo at my Walmart, and its true, the equipment we use to do the D2D service is done through a Fuji provided computer. The same computers all the pictures and photo services go through. The software is automatically updated nightly. Although, I don't understand why they have to wait for a tech since all that button does it brings them to a website. I dont know the link off-hand but it should be able to be typed into the web browser when they click the WIRE button. They should be able to get that link over the phone from a simple service call. I'll hafta test it out tonight when I go in to work.

          The issue was blamed on the Thunder Storm and following store power outage. Eventhough they were still processing photos from same PC. Somehow the Vudu link icon was just not there. Ive seen the Vudu link icon in the lower right hand corner but for my 2 visits it was no where to be found. They are up and running and I was able to get it done.

            "Thunderstorm" = "Someone deleted it."

            I've done my fair share of tech support, I speak the lingo.

              In case this happens to others (last time I went in to my Wal-Mart they had problems with the photocenter computer).

              The process can be accomplished on the connection center computers, as well. The employee will have to log into the wireless sales program with their employee id/password. Options at that point are (going from memory) 'New Phone Sales', something else to do with phones and a smaller 'more' or 'other' button. If they click this button the next set should have the Vudu D2D option. From that point it should be the same as the photocenter computer (I had to walk the lady doing my transaction through the process using an instruction sheet they had posted near the computer), it asks for store id, employee id and password at this point, these are Vudu-specific entries found in the instructions I mentioned.

              So, know that just because the photocenter computer is uncooperative does not mean you wasted a trip, if an associate is willing to go the extra step (sometimes all you have to do is ask).

                Thanks. From my experience - when D2D process is done in Photo Center they print off a small bar code that is affixed to your D2D list and then scanned on a cash register where you pay for your D2D transaction. Do all Walmart wireless centers also have that same bar code printer to finalize the D2D order as in the Photo Center?

                  Thanks to you I did not waste a trip and got it done in Wireless Center. I arrived at store at 8pm and the Photo Center worker said she could not do D2D because she had already turned off the PC. I told her that I read D2D could be done at the Wireless center. So we go to Wireless and a non Photo Center worker was able to learn her way thru the process with a little assistance from me and the Photo worker. The only difference was the printed bar code was not a sticker and had to be taped to my D2D order page.
