Ultraviolet Progress Report Seminar and Panel

Home Media Magazine is hosting a UltraViolet webinar in 30 minutes. Industry experts will be speaking, and I hope they will announce something special. Maybe 10,000 titles available? Will you join?

And here are two videos of an UltraViolet seminar that was held last year. It's very interesting, I suggest watching both.

Re: Ultraviolet Progress Report Seminar and Panel

Very intresting, especially since this was from June and some new announcements have happened even since then. Was it just me or was the British guy in that second video a real buzzkill? I'm all for someone playing devil's advocate, but this guy seemed to be hammering UV just as much as the folks on the Amazon message board.

Here's hoping that things continue to evolve and get better. So far, so good from what I can tell.

Great explanation by Jim, in the first video, of the different 'actors' within the UV system. I'm glad Vudu has elected to display the UV logo on the info page of elogible titles and am really looking forward to CFF this fall.

            Mr. EP,

Thx for the link. I watched the whole of the intro while I put together my wife's lunch and made her breakfast and am part of the way through the forum.

I, like you, work in the I.T. industry. What struck me is how rapid this technology is being adopted. I do not know how many "cool" things have come along in my years in the industry to only see them have a 5 year low gradient ramp end in a fizzil.

UV is the exception to this pattern. In the words of Victor Hugo, "No army can stop an idea whose time has come" seems to be what is scooping up UV. In my view, this is one Badass technology I am glad to see make it.

It is simply in everyone's best interest for this technology to work and for there to be a single method of delivery.

            -Walter

            P.S.:
Now if we can just get Disney to get religion.

Also, I transcribed a quote from the video to hopefully put to bed the other thread. Thx again for the video link.

I'm hoping someone was able to join and can report back. I can't do this during the work day.

I was registered for it but had to miss it due to a last minute meeting. I was hoping that they would stream it for us to view later?

I'm glad they are having this event, even if I can't go. It's good when DECE members get together, they can discuss feedback that they are getting, and discuss ways to make the system better. Maybe they will convince some people at Disney to join. I can dream, can't I?

Thx for the link. I was able to catch the last 15 minutes of it.

Sounded like they were surprised by the turnout. They said several hundred were in attendance.

I would be surprised if they did not make the recording available after the fact. Most webinars are like that.

One of those presentations was in the UK, where BBC is a UV participant.
