    Alien films D2D problem...

I want to bring my Alien bluray set to Walmart, but the strange thing is that I see directors cut or special edition of all the films except for Aliens. I REALLY like the Aliens extended version and it seems really odd that that would be the only film in the set that isn't available. I see the theatrical version, but not the extended. Can someone else confirm this and if this is true....why?

Aliens is currently not available on VUDU. We hope to add it back to the service at some point.

Thank you for your response, however, aliens IS available through disc to digital, but it is the theatrical version. My question is why are all the other alien movies available in disc to digital with the theatrical AND the extended editions, but not aliens. Seems like a mistake to me.

Thank you for bringing this up. I had Aliens special edition and now when I went to check to see if it is still in my library it is there but I can only watch the trailer. I think Vudu should notify people when they are going to pull movies and issue a credit for the movie.

I agree. This is the biggest downfall to what could potentially be a great service. When you pay for a blu-ray or pay for the disc to digital service, you should have legal rights to the UV versions of those films. This means they can never take it away from you. It would be like if I bought the blu-ray and the studio decided they didn't want to allow people to watch it on blu-ray for that week and they showed up at my house and took it. I shouldn't pay for stuff and then wonder whether I'll have access to it day to day. Not to mention all of the issues I've have with movies redeemed in SD instead of the HDX that is promised. That is a horrible way to do business.

Aliens was pulled for encoding issues. The last 2 mins of the movie were missing. If you send me a private message i would be happy to credit you for the movie.

I agree with you. If you buy a movie even if it is a $2 upgrade they should not be able to just remove it and if they have to, they need to notify people and offer some kind of reimbursement. I think the service is great but this is not right. I went to the ultraviolet website and the movie is there and it says stream on Vudu but when I click on the link all I can watch is the trailer. I also agree with you about redeeming movies that you buy in High def and only get SD that is not cool at all either. I really hope they get it together and work out all the bugs. Nice talking to you. Have a good day.

Thank you for your response dhatman. It is completely understandable when a film needs to be removed because part of it is missing, but I agree that those that own it should be notified of this and then notified again when it has returned. That would avoid quite a bit of frustration.

Any chance we could get a timetable for when aliens special edition will become available again? Could I be notified?

Currently, we do not have a timetable that we can provide. I will update as soon as we have one, or have the movie available again.

I am also wanting/waiting for Aliens Special Edition. I was about to head to WalMart with my quadrilogy DVD set to get them all added with Disc 2 Digital.

I was just going to unhappily settle for the theatrical of Aliens, even though it arguably has the best Special Edition version of the 4 films. I'm glad I found this post, as now I will just hold off on D2D until the Special Edition is fixed and put back up.

It would be nice if it was put back up, but with a coming soon status, or something, rather that just vanishing completely.

How much longer? My chest is about to burst with anticipation!!!
