    More video quality inconsistency...

I've put in 2 service tickets for this, but I thought I would put it out to the community to see how others are fairing with this. I have 3 blu-rays that I redeemed through vudu that came out in SD rather than HDX. I've read a lot about the inconsistancy with video quality here and I've ALSO read several moderators claim that they are working on providing HD copies of everything redeemed through vudu. I think we need to weigh in on this to show how inconsistant this is for everyone. Here are my 3 films:

    Lockout
    Wrath of the Titans
    The Adventures of Tin Tin

    What is your experience?

Yeah, I got a Wrath of The Titans UV code from Blu-ray that I am afraid to redeem on Vudu or Flixster.

I only redeem blu-ray codes and I can inform you on all 3

there is also a large thread about what was redeemed and what you get etc look for my original post its generally on the first page.

      Lockout - hdx
      tin tin - hdx
      wrath of titans - SD

good luck with trying to obtain a hdx copy of that. I don't think anyone got hdx or very few did majority was sd

Thank you for your response. I have been told by several people that they received HDX copies redeemed through vudu from blu-ray discs for these films. I just received a response from customer service where I was basically brushed off by saying that they have no control over the quality that is given. I believe that they don't have any control over how their system mistakenly gives out the wrong quality, but they DO have control over fixing it. This is really frustrating!

Since you received those codes from sellers I suspect your codes may be from DVD and not from Blu-ray.

Those codes are from blu-rays, not dvds. They were not donated. Unless I am misunderstanding you, I'm not sure why you are assuming that.

Yeah, I did not mean donate but sellers. If you purchased an unused code from a forum seller how can you really know that it came from a bluray. Actually, I got burned with 2 codes that sellers stated were from Blu-ray but were not. They were:

              Safe (Lionsgate)
              Think Like A man (Sony)

IMO, both of those studios are know for giving the correct version.

I have been asking sellers also if their codes are from bluray and i dont buy from mass sellers since they probably have no clue. I look for someone who is selling less than 15 titles.

I do understand that if you buy a UV code from some random person you may not get a blu-ray code, but my whole point is that these are codes from blu-rays that I own. I wouldn't be complaining otherwise.

So whatever happened with the service tickets? Try sending them a pic of the code and bluray disc.

The first service ticket they said they couldn't do anything, the second they said to send it the UV pictures. I am doing that now.

OK Buddy, if that's the story you gonna keep running with while trying to get a free upgrade from SD to HDX from the codes, err, I mean Blu-ray movies you want us to believe you bought. Wink Wink!

I thought this was really a studio or UV issue, not a Vudu problem...if the code from the studio is correct (HD for blu ray) you should get HD rights.

                            Re: More video quality inconsistency...

I may be wrong, but this is my understanding:

                            1) All studios are now allowing for HD copies of codes redeemed from bluray purchases, whereas before some older titles were given SD copies regardless of DVD or bluray. This means that now some of those relatively older titles, such as Wrath etc. will show up as HD if redeemed more recently. However, these titles (and some newer ones) are still showing up as SD, as the result of glitches or what service you choose to access it through (flixster etc.)

2)VUDU allows people to redeem their codes directly through their site, bypassing the studio, and they claim that they have permission to provide HD copies for the bluray codes moving forward (which has been stated by moderators throughout the forums). But, again, some titles are showing up as SD still, even newer ones.

4)All the studios and services seem to continually play the blame game with each other instead of working together to provide consistancy to their customers.

The bottom line seems to be (based on a lot of what I have read) that its a gamble as to what you get no matter what service you choose to redeem it through or sometimes even how new the movie is. Sometimes things turn out better than expected...for example my copy of Crazy Stupid Love came up as HDX (as it should), but I've read many others say that they received SD copies. Brand new releases seem to be much more consistant across the board.

I just feel that customers should feel confident that if they purchase a blu-ray that they will receive an HD copy no matter what service they redeem through. I appreciate that VUDU is trying to achieve this, and I feel confident that soon i will be able to just go to VUDU to redeem all of my UV codes and I will get HD, but its not there yet. All I'm asking is that they upgrade the ones that show up incorrectly in the meantime, instead of playing the blame game.

Let me also add that disc to digital has been great and consistent for me...I just need more of my movies to become available. Anybody else have a different or similiar experience with all this?
