Early adopters out of luck with UV

So, it's now been confirmed by me (through a dummy account) and some others online that the early Warner Blu-Ray codes are giving HDX copies now instead of the SD copies. I just redeemed a Green Lantern code I had re-activated through Warner and it indeed gave me HDX copies of both movies (the code gave Green Lantern and an animated GL movie) through a dummy UV account I linked to Vudu. Warner codes do not allow you to re-enter codes once a code is redeemed (even if you get a new code). Flixster will just load your library if you try or give you an error message. I've heard some movies can be redeemed again through vudu if they have a link, but most of the older Warner movies are not on Vudu at the moment (Crazy Stupid Love, Green Lantern, Horrible Bosses, Final Destination 5, etc...). I've put a ticket in with Vudu (Warner/Flixster basically told me "Tough Luck, talk to Vudu. Warner doesn't do HD movies") and we will see what they say, but I'm not holding my breath for a fix, since this does seem to be a Warner/Flixster issue, not Vudu. Maybe if we all contact Warner they will start to listen and give the people who actually used UV at the beginning the same copies they are giving people who waited?

Edit: Vudu answered my ticket pretty much the way I expected. They said they were bound by the licensing agreement they had at the time the codes were redeemed, which is understandable. I believe this is a Warner/Flixster issue, not Vudu. I've contacted UVVU about it and they said they are escalating my issue to the retail/media provider customer support. Basically that sounds like they are sending it to Warner, which will most likely result in them telling me to contact Vudu

I agree. I am in the same boat, supporting UV since the first week and am now getting the shaft. I will put in a ticket to UVVU as well.

They should upgrade EVERYONE to HDX if the code is from a Blu-ray and movies from the other studios that came across as SD Vudu should allow us to upgrade to HDX for $2 or $3 not the full price to buy it again.

This is good news for The Dark Knight Rises since it is from Warner-Bros.

I found a few $1 codes on the web and can confirm Crazy Stupid Love, Hangover 2 and Green Lantern all give HDX now. I guess the only positive out of this is I can always switch UV accounts in vudu to my dummy account when I want to watch one of these movies in HDX. It sucks my codes I got through my Blu Rays only gave SD.

Curious. What would have happened if you redeemed them in the account that already had the SD copies? I wonder if one would have both the SD and HDX versions in their account. I have SD and HDX for "Think Like A Man" and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengence after Sony added HDX version after I complained that I got SD from blu-ray.

I think the problem is warner claims they do not give hd, hdx copies. What happens if you unlink your uv account to flixster and vudu as I have never done that? Then re-add the account would the new permissions in the code change because I don't know how new permissions could be added to old codes and not be retroactive at the same time. Maybe someone can explain it to me.

If a code was redeemed 8 months ago and you still have a code from 8 months ago what changed and what is the difference from redeeming v.s unlinking and having vudu set the permissions from the relink.

Also is there any phone number you can call warner brothers with as you can talk to sony to fix and check your codes for you.

Won't work. Warner will not let you add a second code through flixster. If you try it just takes you to your flixster library or errors out. It won't even take you to the spot to add the code. I've spent countless emails back and forth with them trying to get them to allow me to add a new code and they always say no. Go try it on flixster and you'll see what I mean. Pick a Warner movie you've redeemed a code for and try to redeem again.

This is interesting, but i'm pretty sure that WB blu rays that were released in 2011 have print that reads "digital copy SD only" on the back. If Flixster is now redeeming those 3 movies (hangover 2, etc) in HDX this is good news. It looks like yes early adopters will be out of luck because we redeemed those titles at a time when only SD was available. Horrible Bosses, Harold and Kumar, J Edgar and Project X all redeemed in SD for me. are you sure those 3 movies are the only ones that redeem in HDX now? i have a code for Contagion but afraid to even enter it because it may be SD.

Just pulled my old Harry Potter codes and they don't say that anywhere on them. I also looked at The Hangover 2 and don't see anything about SD either.

OK, I see. But these movies are not available on Vudu for rent or sale or UV Redeem:

                      Crazy Stupid Love
                      Hangover 2
                      Green Lantern
                      Contagion

I already have SD version of Wrath Of The Titans, which is still available for rent, buy & Redeem UV on Vudu. I have a code from Blu-ray that I want to add.

It may work then. It didn't work for me when I tried to redeem a new code for Sherlock 2 through Vudu after getting an SD copy through flixster.

sounds like Flixster upgraded their service. the issue is with them. we should ask them to upgrade our SD movies to HDX

Tried and tried again. They won't budge.

Contagion just redeemed in SD for me. Now that makes 5 WB movies in my collection that redeemed in SD.
