    Re: Extra UV users

Just an update, my brother said he had received an error when attempting to stream. I had thought I'd previously tested streaming with a basic account using my mothers iPad. So basic members may not be able to stream like the picture above suggests...

Yeah thanks. I changed 3 of my Standard Members to Basic couple days ago. Reading your email I decided to check so I log in as one of my Basic Members and tried to stream a movie via PC and got this message:

"Your account does not currently have the rights to play back this movie. Please contact VUDU customer care."

HEY UVVU - WTF IS THE BASIC MEMBER ACCOUNTS FOR?!

Wow what sense does it make to have a basic member then? Maybe they can redeem movies for you only.

Technically basic accounts should be able to access and play locally download CFF using there account. Problem is CFF is not yet available. So they can't do on the fly streaming, but they have permission to play CFF locally.

                Well, this burns my gizzards!

Not that I m going to do it, but what if I just give my mom my login and PW. Can she then watch a movie on her Vudu-enabled TV? My concern is that if she uses my login, I will not be able to login.

I have started watching a movie on Vudu on the LG TV, then turned it off and resumed watching upstairs in the bedroom. So I guess we can switch devices, but perhaps we cannot have simultaneous multiple streams.

What if The kids want to watch vudu on one TV and I want to watch a movie on a different TV at the same time? How does Vudu handle that?

Hmmmm. I never read the Vudu FAQ. Maybe I need to - LOL!

                  Re: Extra UV users

Each family member gets there own personal Vudu account and linked to there own personal sub UV account. Just make sure the UV accounts are set as Standard members and your problem is solved... No password sharing/account sharing.

Okay, now I get it. Thanks Ninja. So my family members cannot use my Personal Vudu or UV files. They have to get their own.

In that case, they can use Netflix, watch the cable network or view actual DVDs and Blu-ray discs instead.

Each family member that has a Vudu account linked to one of your sub UV accounts has access to all movies in the UV locker, unless you set the parental controls to block certain content, such as R rated movies and etc.

Note: If you have Vudu movies in your account that are not UV enabled, the other family members Vudu accounts will not be able to see them because they are locked to the account purchased. Always choose UltraViolet!

The benefit of this is that each user can personally rate each film that they watch, mark favorites, and resume films that they began watching. Instead of everyone using one account and having the same preferences. I wish Netflix had a family style account with multi-user under one billed user. That way I can rate my own films and have recommendations tailored for me and not see the recommendations for kids because they were marking all there favorite cartoons.

I do not have kids, but it applies the same way to my GF and I sharing an account.

                        Re: Extra UV users

I kind of have another question for people out there about extra users.

Does any one know if you can create a Vudu account and do the Disc to Digital with out having a UV set up first?

The reason I ask is if someone one does DtoD into their Vudu account but they currently only have a UV account that's a sub account under mine, if I ever remove them and then they create their own personal UV account are the movies they have personally converted into their Vudu going to show up in there new UV personal account?

If the D2D is done under a sub account of yours, they belong to your account even if you remove the person as a subaccount. There is no way to split off a user's movies from the parent account at this time.

I don't think that is correct. I just unlinked one of my sub-accounts vudu account, and all the movies that were redeemed or purchased by his account stayed with his account. Also those that he added using D2D were in his account after the unlink. So if he created a new UV account, they would be moved over.

Cool that's what I was thinking would happen. Since they were redeemed in his actual Vudu account no matter what UV account gets linked back to his Vudu account is going to let him still watch them.

The D2D would not be, being done right into the sub account in my UV account but into his own personal Vudu account.
