    Disney Pixar Sale

I propose a boycott on the Disney Pixar Sale by virtue of the fact they refuse to join UV... and honestly its not that great of a sale... 17.99 should be base price for any movie older than 6 months but newer than 2 years... I don't know what they think we'd pay more for the digi copy (that is only good on one service) than we would for the actual bluray... There is something very wrong with their way of thinking.

For some reason Disney thinks that their "Keychest" or whatever it is will do better than UV.

I don't understand their reasoning either. UltraViolet is taking off (albeit at a slow pace), so they need to start adapting to new technology.

The reason keychest sucks is because that means you have to use more then one provider... I hope it's an complete failure and it should be because only Disney is supporting it, much like the Disney movie service.

Considering they are ending "Disney Movies Online" there is always hope that they will join UV soon.

If they would just roll out their Disney Studio All Access or whatever it was supposed to be called I'd be happy, as long as all my digital copies carried over from Disney Movies Online. And now DMO is closing too and there hasn't been any mention of DSAA in a long time.

Disney is adapting to new technology. Their Keychest service is their version of VUDU and is "new technology" (for them at least). But I understand what you mean about them not supporting UV.

I don't think we really know how Keychest will work and what devices they will support. I guess we'll have to wait and see. But one thing is for sure, I will not purchase all the Disney movies that we already own (probably more than 60). I would be willing to pay $2.00 for disc to digital.

And I do think they will have great success. They are Disney and they have tons of movies and television shows to compete with other services.

Power in numbers, I think it's safe to say that were on the winning side. That's how it was with HD-DVD... I preferred HD-DVD but it is what it is..

If there's one thing Disney has it's lots of money.

I can't stop the little voice inside of my head that keeps whispering "Disney will buy Vudu."

Then again, that same voice said these things:

No one will replace their CDs with MP3 files
                Ricky Martin is straight
They will never make a fourth Indiana Jones movie
George Lucas will never sell LucasFilm

So I could be wrong about a Disney buyout of Vudu, but it's fun to imagine the possibilities.

                  Re: Disney Pixar Sale

From what I have read, keychest was supposed to be their version of UV. They wanted other studio's to offer films in their system. But since UV has taken off, no other studio's will support it. We don't need two digital rights locker systems. So they have replaced their plans for keychest with a new service called Disney Movies Anywhere. And I think that this new service will be just as big a failure. UV compatible apps, such as flixster, vudu, and cinema now, are already on millions of Smart TV's, blu-ray players, and other streaming media players. I'm sure Amazon Instant Video will launch soon. Disney's app will take a while to start appearing on new devices, and even longer to be added to current devices, if at all. Most devices don't allow the consumer to add new apps as they become available, with the exception of the Roku. So I think it will be a hard sell.

I'm sure the company will be forced to close it's doors within a year. What are they thinking???

I think this is the second Disney movie service to close down. They also supported the old divx format that died after about a year.
