Re: I opened a case with the Better Business Bureau

His first post originally read that he pirated movies so he could get them digitally. His post has been edited. I'm not the only one in this thread that read the post as originally written. He justified stealing movies saying he needed movies convenient to him.

Re: I opened a case with the Better Business Bureau

I didn't know you could still pirate movies these days due to anti copy protection in most movies? Back in the old days it was possible to pirate a VHS tape or two but even then anti copy protection existed.

Well now that's just stupid why would anyone say that on a public forum, I thought there was more to this story.

Yeah, we sometimes don't get what we expect. I redeemed a few 3D blu-ray UV codes and didn't get the 3D version on Vudu but I got HDX so I wasn't too upset and don't care 'cause I can always watch the 3D version on my blu-ray player.

Re: I opened a case with the Better Business Bureau

I could see being disappointed in not receiving a HD digital copy when you purchase a blu-ray but there isn't much that can be done about it.

Yes, WB seems to cover themselves by always stating the DC is in SD but I do think the OP has a valid complaint if some people are receiving an HD digital copy while others are receiving an SD version for the same movie. According to OSUGrad2X's spreadsheet it does look like people have reported receiving an HDX version on Vudu (which means the digital copy redeemed as SD and HD on Flixster) so the question then becomes why did the OP only receive an SD copy. Everyone who purchases the Batman Begins blu-ray should be receiving the HD version (or everyone should receive the SD version) but it shouldn't be where some are receiving and HD while others only get a SD copy IMHO.

Heres what you do if you don't get a HDX digital copy.

              1) Return the movie to the store you bought it from. Ask for a replacement PHYSICAL COPY due to a defective copy.
              2) Enter the new code. At the other website (instead of Flixster, do Vudu next time and vice versa)

              How hard was that?

That is not a bad idea, or just do a D2D as others have pointed out.

Let's say that my friend buys the same new car I bought, for the same price, but at a dealer that gives free rustproofing. Is it a matter of "fair" that I didn't get free rustproofing? Of course not. Like the car, if you buy the UV in the same way that the guy who got an HDX UV, you'd have an HDX copy as well. It's within your rights as a consumer to buy the UV in a way that gets you an HDX copy, just as the other guy did. It's perfectly fair.

Thanks for clearing that up: I'm not the only one who just got on this topic, wondered what was up here...

If the SD movie is already in your account trying to add another code will not always work. I lost 2 UV Blu-ray codes trying to add HDX. Contact VUDU support and have them remove the SD copy then try the new code.

Sure, but is there really a clear path to HDX redemption from WB? I redeem from VUDU rather than Flixster, whenever possible, but it's not like there are clear instructions provided.

There's a random, lottery, secret insider scent to HDX redemptions that isn't good for anyone.

And many people HATE buying from car dealers, precisely due to the opaque nature of the pricing.

So where would you buy a new car? I think you missed my point.

I may have. I just don't think the burden should be on the consumer here.

I'm not aware of a clear, officially documented path for getting HDX for WB movies through a code bundled with a bluray.

You shouldn't need to scour message boards to figure out the best way it might work.

If you were promised HDX but got SD, I feel your pain. I don't think that's the case. I believe you assumed you'd be getting HDX.

I don't know what to tell you. This does go back to the last sentence of my first post in this thread.

Caveat emptor. (That saying has been around so long, it started out in Latin!)

I think the point rdodolak was attempting to make was that we need consistency.

Not everyone knows to check and see what the release date on the specific copy of a BR you are buying is and even then there are still some uncertainties on which copies come with HDX and which do not.

At this juncture I don't think we want UV to be able to be compared to a Car Dealership else all of the negative stigma that is associated with that comparison will engender mistrust and further the already present apprehension some people have about UV.
