    Is This True?

Is it true that movies redeemed with ultraviolet codes are only free to stream for one year? Potentially we could build up our libraries and then be forced to pay to watch them?

"UltraViolet retailers are required to give you no-cost unlimited streaming the first year. After that they may or may not charge for additional streams"

Found another interesting view on the Ultraviolet Service. I guess it is a little early to be ditching media. I was really hoping i could start going digital only.

    Re: Is This True?

Yes it is true, but most review sites are idiots when it comes to UV... Including the commentors...

I highly doubt VUDU would ever charge more after 1 year because their business is built on streaming.... This is an assumption. I look at these clauses as more or less protection for studio's and etc, but I don't think they would actually utilize them... However, I could easily be wrong... But I plan on using offline playback for the majority of my viewing after the CFF files are available.

      Re: Is This True?

The tag on my mattress also says I could get arrested for removing it, but I've yet to have the mattress police coming knocking at my door. There are a lot of contingencies and terms in a lot of the things we sign up for and/or buy. They may or may not happen, but people need to stop acting like UV is the first "risk" that anyone has ever had to take with a purchase.

        Re: Is This True?

It's just a good thing to know. I was thinking about going cloud with my new purchases and I still may but it looks like right now there is very little to protect the buyer since our rights end in 1 year. I"m not in any way saying that is the plan of any of the providers but right now it would be completely legal for them to charge us again after one year.

If I do go cloud I guess I'll stick to buying the media and paying the $2 for D2D. At least that way I have a back up plan.

          Re: Is This True?

I wouldn't be surprised if they do charge for it. Unlimited 1080p streaming for years/life has a price and it will surely get passed on to users. It shouldn't cost much but regardless, I am prepared for it.
