CONTAGION is now available in HD as well as SD through CinemaNow. I redeemed and got SD and HD rights in my Ultraviolet locker and HDX in Vudu.

JUSTICE LEAGUE: DOOM is still not turned on, even though it's on their D2D list.

I also redeemed these Lions Gate titles today through CinemaNow and got SD and HD rights in my Ultraviolet locker and HDX in Vudu:

      CAPTIVITY
      CRASH
      KICK A$$

Wow, didn't think about trying the DVD side of an HD-DVD... Very cool.

Worked for me on BREACH and HOLLYWOODLAND!

Hopefully Vudu's D2D will work better, so many problems with Cinemanow's D2D I finally gave up after about 3 in 5 error for one reason or another

My copy of the Grudge (UPC 043396062603) does not work. On my Mac is says not compatible. On my PC is says there's no disc in the drive. Funny since it works fine on the DVD player on both. I guess it's another one to save for Vudu's d2d app.

Re: CinemaNow and Rovi launch beta at home D2D service

My solution went to Wally World Sunday, the fellow that I have assisted in training works that day, had him upload/convert 93 discs, a combination of Blu Rays & DVDs, HD where it was available & SD where it was not available (i.e. Tears of the Sun is a Blu Ray, but VUDU only has SD). Took all of one hour, the conversions were completed correctly, no hassles, pleasant sales associate, they all showed up instantly in UV and VUDU, & then drove past Best Buy feeling quite smug (coincidentally they are on the way to Wally World).

Currently I have 6 tickets open with them since mid December on a multitude of issues surrounding CinemaNow, including D2D conversion. Have heard nothing except that the issues have been escalated to management, HAH!! Fed up, hope they make a go of it, but not with my dollar.

I called both CinemaNow and Best Buy this morning (as part of some research I was doing) and asked if they had any plans for an in store disc-to-digital program like what Walmart does. They are just as clueless as their competition, but they have an excuse because they are only in beta testing. I talked to three people total (2 at CinemaNow and 1 at Best Buy) and they all said that they don't know if Best Buy will offer a D2D program like Walmart.

One thing is for sure, dealing with the retail side of these companies is much less painful.

We will have to agree to disagree that retail is better. Once vudu launches their home service I'm never looking back. I'd much rather have a problem reading a disc than having to travel to up to 3 different stores and hoping one has an employee trained (or willing to pick up the manual and read) in the service.

I value your opinion. What I was referring to was the customer service side of things. I have entered cases with Vudu that never seem to go anywhere, I have chatted with CinemaNow and called them with questions and these type of people just are not customer service people. They really don't seem to care one way or another. I called both Best Buy and Walmart today and wow, what a difference. They were willing to listen and really answer my questions.

That is what I was talking about. But as for at home D2D, I too am looking forward to it. But I think we will still need Walmart to handle some movies. For example, CinemaNow's program cannot handle double and triple feature DVDs correctly. I have Jeremiah Johnson that is on the list with CinemaNow and when I put the disc in it shows the correct movie but it says that it's ineligible. I don't know if their list is wrong or the program isn't working. And, there may be other things (things that for some reason I am not suppose to say ) that you cannot put into your DVD drive that you will have to take to Walmart.

I didn't see it mentioned here, but yesterday I upgraded my DVD of THE RIGHT STUFF to HD via CinemaNow and wound up receiving only the SD version in my Ultraviolet account -- despite the title being available in HD both on CinemaNow and VUDU.

I contacted CinemaNow support to request the HD upgrade and instead they simply refunded my $5, which was not the resolution I was looking for. It's also not the first time they've done this to me, having done an HD D2D on GHOST STORY only to find out it's available in SD only.

I guess the good news is that even after they refund the money, the title remains in your UV account as SD, but I'd rather them keep the money and give me the HD version I'm paying for.
