I have purchased a few discounted HDX Ultraviolet movies from CinemaNow and they successfully migrated to Vudu (automatically) very quickly.

The odd thing is that I cannot get a "clean" loading of my UV library to appar on CinemaNow. I get dozens of duplicate titles as it attempts to load my collection on CN. I find it frustrating and useless. Vudu loads my collection quickly without hiccups.

So for me, CN is a place to purchase some UV titles when they go on sale. I view them on Vudu. I make sure to NOT buy non UV titles on CinemaNow.

I used to be able to get my library to load by unlinking my uv but that does not work any more. The funny thing is that when uv was down on Christmas my library loaded. It had up to 20 duplicates of some movies. I knew uv was back up when my library disappeared again.

Re: CinemaNow and Rovi launch beta at home D2D service

I signed up for CinemaNow tonight and bought 5 titles via Disc-to-Digital:

          BATS
          BLUE THUNDER
          COP LAND
          GHOSTBUSTERS
          GODZILLA (1998)

Be careful when you're buying the Sony/Columbia titles as some of them are offered in HD, like GODZILLA (1998) but they are in fact SD. GHOSTBUSTERS looks like a 720p blow-up to me. It has grey bars instead of black bars. I have a feeling that BATS is also a blow-up. Again, all 3 of these titles were offered in HD. I've created a ticket for GODZILLA (1998) and GHOSTBUSTERS and asked them to either remove the titles from my library or give me a credit for the price difference.

In the future, I'm going to be a little more cautious with CinemaNow and reference the titles I want to get thru Disc to Digital against what they are actually offering on their website.

The other 3 titles look good in HD. Nice to see Miramax titles like COP LAND available in this manner.

All 5 movies appeared in my Ultraviolet locker, after I linked it to CinemaNow. BATS, GHOSTBUSTERS and GODZILLA (1998) appear as SD only in both my Ultraviolet locker and in Vudu, while the other 2 titles show up as available in HDX.

Re: CinemaNow and Rovi launch beta at home D2D service

I also bought TEARS OF THE SUN through CinemaNow last night. According to the Ultraviolet locker, the movie should now be available to me in SD and HD.

Through Vudu, the movie is only offered as SD.

Looking the movie up on CinemaNow's website on my browser, it says the movie is available in HD but neither my LG DVD player or XBox 360 is compatible to play it.

Looking at my library through the CinemaNow app on the XBox 360 shows that the movie IS available in HD. I haven't checked the transfer yet, though. The app for the 360 is definitely friendlier at sorting your library than what they have developed for my LG DVD player.

I really wish Vudu was updating their Disc to Digital selection more frequently because I'd rather not waste the money (or time spent checking in more than one place that a movie is in fact available in HD to me).

You may want to check for updates as there's a newer version of the CinemaNow/Rovi player available since 12/19. Not sure when this first became available since one of my computers notified me of the update today on startup where as the other did not.

              Old Version: 2.6.0.0 Build: 250B58A
              New Version: 2.7.0.0 Build: 250B70A

Yes, the PC player has been updated. If you have already downloaded the PC player, you can choose Help -> Check For Updates and the new version will be installed. If you have not downloaded that player then you can navigate to CinemaNow's Disc To Digital pages and download the update from there.

Please let me know if you see more reliable results from your HD purchases. I'm confident you will. This build doesn't fix your previous HD/SD purchases. CinemaNow will continue to work on getting the proper HD token into the UV locker for those of you who have purchased HD but got SD. For now, in 2.7 you will only see an HD offer if the purchase of that offer will place an HD token into the UV locker immediately. Otherwise, you will only see an SD offer. On your previous purchases, you bought HD and you will get HD. It will just take time to sort out. With 2.7 you can be confident that if you see an HD offer, you will have an HD token in your UV locker right after your purchase.

The Mac player is slated for the same update at the beginning of the week.

I'm on a Mac. I still can't get justice league doom, j Edgar or happy feet 2 to work when they should. Tried on a PC also, no luck.

It sounds like CinemaNow will be resolving issues with users getting SD copies when one purchased an HD copy automatically? Or do we still need to report it?

Also, are you able to comment on whether CinemaNow will be or is considering adding Blu-ray as a D2D option? Appreciate any feedback you could provide.

I would like to see all the uv movies get flagged on there. ie The loved ones is a uv movie but its not flagged there as one. Issues like Fantastic four being uv flagged in desc but not going to my uv locker.

Re: CinemaNow and Rovi launch beta at home D2D service

I travel full-time, so I need my content downloaded. I have the usual combination of personal iPad and company issued Dell Laptop. If I'm spending money on movies now, I want them to be in HD.

Right after the beta went live, I purchased the HD version of Dave. I could not download HD from CN to my laptop, since I don't have an Intel CPU. My UV locker only received the SD license. I tried using the CN iPad client, but it kept crashing on the download. CN has now issued a refund, but the movie still shows in my UV locker. I have no licenses to play it, it's just stuck there.

Since there's new version of the software, I tried Risky Business in HD. Still, CN won't let me download to my PC, since it's not Intel Insider. Even though I did receive both HD and SD licenses, CN has restricted the license in my UV locker to download of SD version only. VUDU shows HDX license, with a small message "This title is viewable on PC/Mac in SD only." CN iPad client says "HD Download is unavailable". I connected my Panasonic TV to the CN client. Risky Business does not show in my library, only a movie I received as a gift 2 years ago. In addition, none of my UV movies are available.

I saw reported here gift cards could be used, so I put one into my account. No, it didn't use the gift card. It shows Store Credit on the receipt, but it was not used for the purchase.

I do wish CN would tell me the rights I will get when I purchase the movie. Even after purchase, I can't easily tell. The iPad client says HD Download not available; but does that mean not available from the studio, or that the client doesn't support it, or they didn't license it to me, or what? The web site says for my iPad, "This HD title is not formatted for this device and will playback in SD." What does that mean, and how was I to know that before the purchase?

I want HD content, and I'm willing to pay for it, but don't make me pay and then fail to deliver it.

has anyone had any issues with using the disc to digital service on cinemanow and one of the movies not eligible on vudu due to a licensing right? I did the lord of the rings movies, the 1st two transferred just fine to vudu. Vudu customer support says apparently cinemannow does not have the proper licensing rights to have return of the king available on vudu.
Now vudu shows this move is available on their disc to digital service.
All 3 movies show up in my uvvu account.
Basically I was told to contact cinemanow about this issue. I still don't understand but that is what vudu is telling me.

Not sure what good uvvu has with all these services connected to it if the movies will not transfer.

                          any ideas?

This sounds like an issue for VUDU to me. What other licenese is there besides UV? If it's a UV title and it shows in your UV account, and if VUDU has the movie then it should show up on your VUDU account as well.

I'd like to know this too. CN just send me 5 codes in response to my inquiry about why I only got SD when I paid for HD. I just assumed I needed to create a support ticket.
