    What about digital to digital?

There are movies that have been added to Vudu, and are available for "Disc to Digital", that I previously purchased a digital copy on Amazon.com. I don't suppose there's a way for me to convert "digital to digital" is there?

Also, why not allow VHS to digital? I don't have very many VHS tapes left, only a hand full that I have been hanging on to until I replace them with DVD.

Perhaps my real question is why does Vudu only allow us to convert DVD versions of movies and not other formats like VHS, digital downloads, and even PSP videos?

I should also mention that Amazon.com as indicated to me that they are interested in this. They indicated that they thought it was a good idea to allow us to transfer digitial content from VUDU to Amazon.com and that they would look into this.

Can someone at Vudu respond to this?

Probably difficult to authenticate. The digital movies you own on Amazon, when they join UV and assuming those titles are UV enabled, then they will be on all UV services. It works that way with Vudu, I purchased a non-UV title that is now UV and they extended the UV edition.

Why stop at VHS? Then you'll have people asking to convert their:

          Beta
          8mm
          Hi8mm
          Laserdisc
          etc. etc. etc.

Exactly! That is may question...why did the single out one type of media (okay, two if you count Blueray).

I believe that if you bought a "movie" they should let you convert it to digital.

What would make it any harder for a person at Walmart to look at a VHS tape? No, it's just as easy to authenticate VHS, digital, or any other type of media as it is DVD and Blueray.

Amazon doesn't do the whole UV thing, but that shouldn't really matter since I am talking about D2D. I have purchased several movies from Amazon over the years and most I have been able to take to Walmart and convert to digital for viewing on VUDU. Now I want to take my VHS and digital copies in and convert them. As long as the movie is available on VUDU for D2D I don't see why we can't do this.

Limiting to DVD & BD is probably solely a business decision. That's it. I would think the company had this topic brought up during their business analysis/model and they opted against it. I'm sure that with dozens or hundreds of brilliant minds that worked on this someone thought of VHS and they decided against it.

That is obvious that they decided on only two types of media when they started up this service. Now they have customers, at least one anyway, who is asking that they allow additional types of media to be presented as proof that we own a "movie" that we're wanting to add using D2D. Seems both reasonable and simple to me.

Amazon joined UV last year. They just haven't implemented it yet. Just like Best Buy and their CinemaNow were members for a long time before finally rolling out their UV implementation. It could still happen. Might not. We'll see.

That would be great, but there are still many non-UV titles that VUDU has available for D2D. That is really what I am talking about here, not UV.

I guess there are some like yourself that may benefit from it but "Tape To Digital" seems unlikely.

Sure, we would benefit but I would think that Vudu/Walmart would also. Heck, they could even charge $3 instead of the normal $2 for these other media types. And I am thinking that it should be "Movie to Digital" not "Tape to Digital"...remember, I said I have some movies I bought from Amazon that are in the cloud. I just want to move/copy them from Amazon's cloud to Vudu's cloud without having to purchase a second copy of the movie.

Since Vudu/Walmart will profit from it, I'm sure they'll do it, especially with an extra $1 per title.
