Can a movie be redeemed a second time to get higher quality?

I wanted to know for instance if redeemed a UV code from a DVD and got SD, would I later be able to redeem a code from a bluray for the same movie to get it in HDX? This scenario assumes that this specific movie redeems in HDX from the bluray UV code.

I know Sony Pictures at least gives you the option of paying $5 more to upgrade an SD UV movie to HDX.

I've also read that movies redeemed through flixster cannot be redeemed a second time, such as those that have tried redeeming a second code to upgrade from SD to HD for Horrible Bosses or Crazy Stupid Love only to find out it's not possible.

Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

It did not work for me! I had 2 movies in SD and redeemed codes from Blu-ray and no upgrade. VUDU support referred me to Flixster since they are Warner movies - Project X and Wrath of The Titans.

I might try this - have VUDU support remove the SD copy and then redeem the Blu-ray code. I've never done it but that seems like a solution.

Let's say I have an SD version of a movie in my Vudu collection.

If that movie is available in HDX on Vudu AND it is on the D2D list, can I go to Walmart and D2D my blu-ray to get the HDX version added to my Vudu collection although I already have that same title in SD format?

If the title is available I'd try the D2D route before trying a Bluray UV code.

I've already done this a few times using CinemaNow, and it does indeed work there, so I assume it would be the case for VUDU D2D as well.

I think the only time a second code won't work is if it's a Warner Bros code. They refuse to let you use a second code even if you buy a blu ray later. It's weird, but they will make no exceptions (talking to Flixster Customer Service is about it is about as useful as talking to a brick wall). . In those cases D2D or paying full price for the digital copy are your only options. Cinemanow's D2D is great for this because they have a lot of those older warner movies (Harry Potter 7.2, Hangover 2, etc...) that Vudu does not. I've successfully redeemed multiple codes through Flixster on Non Warner movies though most other movies you can just redeem through the studio sites or Vudu.

Sometimes. I did it with Dredd. I didn't think it would be a good movie but wanted to see it so got the dvd. Then really liked it and got the bluray.

I contacted WB to see if it's possible to have a movie removed entirely. This might in fact be a workaround solution.

Tried that before. Was denied after going back and forth with them for weeks before they stopped replying. Maybe you'll have more luck.

Before asking Warner to remove a movie I'd ask them if possible for them to upgrade to HDX by providing them the code.

I wonder if redeeming on a new ultraviolet account then using the merge 2 UV accounts on uvvu.com would work against the wb only allowing to redeem 1 code problem.

Yes. I know from personal experience. It's dumb they make us jump through hoops.

So it would take opening up a new UV account AND a new flixster to redeem the WB codes, then linking the new UV account to the existing one? The HDX movies from the new UV account would replace the SD ones on the first one?

Yes I believe so but you would just have both SD & HDX versions.
