Re: VUDU AT HOME: DISC-TO-DIGITAL Bugs?

Space Chimps DVD (both sides) comes up as Cats & Dogs... Two species. BOTH WRONG.

Space Chimps 2 DVD works fine.

Re: VUDU AT HOME: DISC-TO-DIGITAL Bugs?

Does VUDU notify you via email when a disc is fixed? It's such a pain to get the discs out of a box in my closet, unbox my BD drive, connect, etc and then only to say not eligible or wrong title.

There were a few titles I had originally added to VUDU2GO as DVDs and specified to upgrade to HDX. I subsequently bought the Blu-Rays of a couple of them prior to completing checkout (I've been recognizing a few discs over the last few weeks in prep for a big conversion). I deleted out the DVD --> HDX upconversion and recognized the Blu-Ray of the same title. However, now when I look at my cart it says $2.00, but lists SD under the definition rather than HDX. ~MG
Any fix for this yet? Haven't seen any updates either in the forum or actual update downloads, to-date.

So, I just completed a $360 order including 81 titles D2D. As such, I consider myself a "paying member" contributing not insubstantially to your bottom line, from my perspective. ~$400 ain't anything to sneeze at.

So, I'd rather like it if this bug could get quashed.

Even after the order is completed, the items I deleted are STILL no longer recognizing correctly (I had hoped that completing an order would completely expunge everything from the cart and set it back to zero; no such luck). That is, I recognize the discs into VUDU2GO at Blu-Ray --> HDX $2.00, but in my cart it instead says DVD --> SD $2.00. Now, I can go and edit the entry and tell it that I want the HDX version, however it then informs me that it's DVD --> HDX @ $5.00, rather than Blu-Ray --> HDX @ $2.00.

        That's kind of a show-stopper for me.

Clearly, I've inserted the Blu-Ray, it's recognized as a Blu-Ray, I've clicked the button to add to cart @ $2.00 Blu--> HDX, so I'm not clear why it's still trying to charge me DVD-->HDX $5.00.

I assume there's some database of what titles have been "recognized" that's not getting properly updated / expunged. So, is there a setting file or database file somewhere on my computer that I can delete as a workaround and have the software rebuild if it's missing? That might hopefully result in Blu-Rays, previously recognized as DVDs for the same title but not yet purchased, actually converting to HDX @ $2.00 rather than $5.00? Can I uninstall and reinstall? Would that fix the issue, or would the setting file still hang around and get picked up again the same way after reinstalling, thus not resolving the issue?

Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to be pushy. Like the service / app. It just seems like a fairly major bug to me at the moment, since it's preventing me from getting some stuff converted over 'til it's priced correctly.

        Thanks!
        ~MG

There are plenty of other services out there that can do disc-to-digital better and are ultraviolet compatible.
          1) Agreed, there needs to be better handling of discs with multiple foo on them. It's not that unrated discs aren't recognized. In fact, I just recognized the entire unrated American Pie trilogy set on DVD, and they all worked as "unrated."

However, I'd have preferred to convert them from Blu-Ray, since I just recently bought the Blu-Ray sets which are also Unrated + Rated discs. The problem is that currently there isn't really support for discs with multiple apparent "titles" on them. For instance the Blu-Ray disc with both Renaissance / Equilibrium on it or pretty much anything with both a theatrical AND an Unrated or Director's Cut on the same disc. Currently it generally only recognizes one title per disc, which is a limitation. I've noted this previously and HOPE they eventually fix this so that multi-title discs will give you the option to convert one or all titles either individually or as a "bundle." 'Til then it's hit-or =-miss whether a given disc recognizes as the theatrical or the unrated version.

          2) And exactly what "other services" are you claiming have better support for Disc-to-Digital @Home than VUDU currently? Not in some year-from-now fantasy land?

CinemaNow? Hardly... I've tried a number of titles over there and they all came back as ineligible. I pretty much gave up on it. Flixster? I haven't been impressed with them either. So far, VUDU2GO is my go-to app of choice. Not only does it support DVD it also support Blu-Ray, which the other two, well, I don't believe they do currently... I could be wrong.

Yes, clearly there is a ways to go yet on VUDU2GO. I've already made a few suggestions for improvement based on how I expect things to function and some bottlenecks I've run into. But, by and large, things have gone pretty smoothly. I'm sure they'll get better eventually as more titles get properly linked and mislinked title errors get sorted out. And once there's better support for multi-title/multi-version discs (like the Alien Anthology Blu-Ray set, which has both the Theatrical and Special Edition on each disc, and unfortunately all currently only recognize as "Alien [Theatrical]").

Any time frame of when the Extended BLU RAY versions of The Lord of the Rings trilogy will be corrected/added?

Currently the blu-ray D2D offerings are theatrical (although the DVD versions of all three films are available). My local wal-mart photo cashier said they'd be happy to D2D them in store for me~ for $15 for the HDX "upgrade" from DVD (I own the blu rays!) x3 ...
