It may also be a manufacturer issue, pressing the discs with the same ID. Right now that is what it appears to be for some titles. For example the Godfather Trilogy on Blu-ray.

Generally discs are identified through a set of algorithms, rather than reading an a pre-determined ID directly off a disc.

We don't know how vudu determines what movie is on a DVD.

Re: VUDU AT HOME: DISC-TO-DIGITAL Bugs?

No, we don't know exactly what process Gracenote/VUDU uses. That said, one standard method (for DVD's, not Blu-ray) is "IDvdInfo2::GetDiscID", which is based on file sizes, dates, etc.

Die Hard 2: Die Harder from 25th Anniversary Blu-ray set - UPC: 024543834045 - (not identified). The other three films in the set were identified and correctly matched.

Re: VUDU AT HOME: DISC-TO-DIGITAL Bugs?

We have updated our DVD database to improve detection of discs in box sets. At this point, we expect that most box set movies will be detected correctly, instead of incorrectly showing you the first (or a random) movie in the box set.

Please try it out (you don't need any software updates) and let us know.

We are aware that certain box sets and double-feature discs are still problematic. [ Specifically, box sets where the individual movie discs were not sold separately + cases where multiple movies are on the same disc]. We are working on an update for this and other issues reported so far as well. Thank you for your patience.

High Anxiety recognized from the Mel Brooks collection (Blu Ray), prior to this it was not. Appears that the fix worked

First the good news: The Superman Blu-ray Anthology movies aren't recognized as Superman Returns anymore. Now the bad news: They aren't recognized at all. At least it gives you the option for them to manually match it. Still no option to select Superman 2 on Blu-ray anymore (only the Richard Donner Cut) so please bring it back. And can you guys get Superman the Movie in HDX?

On a good note Live Free or Die Hard is now recognized properly.

Thanks for the update, Prasanna. I did a quick spot check on these BD titles from box sets I own and they were not recognized by the application.

"The X-Files: Fight the Future" comes up as "The X-Files: I Want to Believe"
"Aliens" and "Alien 3" come up as "Alien: Resurrection"

All of these from box sets and not given the option to say "not my disc".

The update was to the disc identification database on the server, the software you have installed does not need to be updated.
