From what I've read, I should be able to convert the DVD for A Separation (2011) to HDX but I'm not able to get it to work.

I'm having kind of the opposite problem than most people have reported here. I have the Die Hard 4 disc blu ray collection, and I was able to get Live Free or Die Hard work as well as Die Hard With a Vengance, but the original Die Hard and Die Hard 2 in the collection comes up as Live Free or Die Hard.

What was the error it gave you? I've noticed that some DVDs I've tried to convert to HDX(including Vanilla Sky, Team America: World Police, and The Fighter) gave me some random error message and then when I tried again and selected SD, it added the movie to my cart.....in HDX. I actually like that error. I get to convert a DVD to HDX, but at the Blu-ray price.

            O.O

            Really?

If you see that error message again, please let us know what it is! I would never have noticed that, as I never click the SD button...except once by accident, because of a user interface goof. (When the movie is only in SD, the SD button appears where the HDX button normally appears. This is poor user interface design, as the placement of buttons or navigation links should always be consistent.)

I can't remember it off the top of my head, but it's a very short one-line error message with something about "desired quality" or something to that effect.

Re: VUDU AT HOME: DISC-TO-DIGITAL Bugs?

Apparently Vudu is keeping track of this thread but it feels like it's a lost cause at this point and it's probably more frustrating than anything else. I still have hundreds of titles which still aren't recognized and these titles have been this way for months or even from the start of the private beta. Based on my experience, only about 0.5% of those titles (and that's probably being generous) have been fixed at some point since the inception of the D2D program. With the low number of discs which have been fixed it's not even clear if manually matching the title and submitting that info through the D2D app does anything at all (i.e. is it a waste of time to even identify the title) or if those few fixed discs were just a coincidence.

I submitted a ticket for some of these titles and here's the response I received back from Vudu support:

Our apologies for the errors you've encountered using our In-Home Disc to Digital Beta. We're aware there are some movies that are still not being recognized. We're keeping track and fixing the issues as quickly as possible. Please visit our forums for updates and more information:

                  https://forum.vudu.com/showthread.ph...O-DIGITAL-Bugs

At this time there is not an ETA since it's still BETA, but our engineers are working hard on correcting this.
Sounds like Vudu isn't concerned about fixing these issues right now since the D2D program is still in Beta. However, aren't these the type of issues you want to identify and correct during the Beta period? I wouldn't think you would want to exit the Beta with all of these issues but rather fix them before the Beta ends. The interesting part is "fixing the issues as quickly as possible" yet only a fraction of a percent have ever been fixed to date.

I can't see Vudu magically fixing all of these identification issues all at once right before they "officially" release the app and exit the Beta. Due to the low fix rate thus far I can only imagine that these issues will still exist after the beta ends.

This is why I gave up long ago and started buying second copies as studios reissued with UltraViolet and then selling one of them off. I know it sucks.

We know they are using Gracenote for identification. You can send feedback directly to them too.

Here's the link with the information they need:

Has this worked for you? I see that you can send them an email with some limited info on a specific title but how will this fix the identification issues without specific identification data from the disc. What was suppose to be nice about the VuduToGo D2D app is that it can pull data from the actual disc and this data could be used in future identification of the disc once the title is added to the Gracenote database. Does that mean Gracenote needs to acquire each title before they add it to their database?

I got a response from Gracenote:

                            Thanks for writing.

The following information is available on the VUDU support and might be helpful in understanding why all your movies are not available for Disc-to-Digital conversion. The list of movies available for Disc-to-Digital conversion is comprised of titles from studios that are participating in the UltraViolet program that have been legally cleared for digital distribution. VUDU expects the number of titles available for Disc-to-Digital conversion to grow over time.

Please contact VUDU support if you have any more questions: http://supports.vudu.com/
