Re: VUDU AT HOME: DISC-TO-DIGITAL Bugs?

They may be done with manual updates. I just got a response from a support ticket I submitted about Blus identified as dvds. It said they we're unable to manual convert any titles for any customers and that they are working to correct each issue prior to the final release.

I do not blame them for taking this stand, I just wanted to warn others that a conversion may not be automatic.

State that you did D2D with the app, you uses a BD, it recognized as BD, but added as SD, take a photo of the SD and attached to the case. Ask them nicely to change the title from SD to HDX as it should have been and thank them in advance.

This has been mentioned several times. I've done it personally a half dozen time and Vudu has always fixed it in a day or two with no issues.

You used a BD, it recognized and logged as BD, you paid for BD. It's not as issue.

If you select HDX and then ask for a refund it's more complicated for them to do, especially with multiple titles. Just do SD and ask them do update it to HDX.
Thank you very much for that writeup and explanation, jeremymc7.

I was just going to forget about it and pay the additional $1.50... but instead I will do as you suggest and have them upgrade my copy from SD to HDX (after I finally check out, probably next week, right before the promo ends on 8/31.)

      I appreciate it!

If this is possible I would submit the case before processing the checkout of the cart in D2D. If they tell you to complete the checkout first and they will fix it after as was my case two days ago, then at least you have a commitment from them in writing prior to submitting the order and paying for it. Either way you're really not out hardly anything if anything goes wrong. Unless you of course are going a whole order of wrong titles like I did.

Ahh, that's good to know. This 50% off promo has been kind to me. Sure there have been some unidentified no-go's, but all things considered I've got 209 movies in my VUDU library and 21 more in the checkout queue, and I'm happy with the process it took to get here.

VUDU gave me credit for titles I converted during the beta (which they didn't have to do.)

So I think I will just pay the extra $1.50 to get the HDX copy at checkout, even though it should only be $1 since it is a Blu Ray and not a DVD, and be done with it. I'd rather just pay the extra and not have to bother with complaint emails, or worse, having to pay a higher price later on to get the HDX copy I wanted in the first place.

Yeah for me this is just one title (out of 200+ I've converted) and life's too short for me to strategize and wring my hands over a $1.50 glitch. Thanks very much for the feedback though. I certainly appreciate it.

All that said, it sure would be nice if VUDU did have a way for us to (after the fact) pay the delta between SD and HDX copies, in order to upgrade from SD... if the HDX becomes available later, for example. As opposed to having to pay full price for it.

                See going to be more.

I've got another batch to do and there are several more that are mapping to DVD/SD.

Just get it all ready. When you're done, send the case and wait for the response. If they say no or don't respond quick enough for you it's easy to edit the quality in the cart WITHOUT having to put the disc in or anything. Quick and simple.

                Good luck.

Behind Enemy Lines (DVD). Shows up as the sequel Behind Enemy Lines: Columbia. I didn't even realize there was a sequel to the movie and I accidentally purchased the wrong movie. Oh well.

This next one kind of made up for it though.

The Ring: DVD. It would not let me choose HDX. It would give me an error if I tried. After a few tries I gave up and hit the SD button and it added it to my cart as a Blu Ray HDX for $2. Weird.

I actually got four more today (Saturday). After paying for them and submitting the case, Vudu had fixed in my library and responded to my email inside of 5 minutes ! ! !

Obviously they are still fixing these issues of Blu-Ray's coming up as SD instead of HDX for people.

Here are my bugs so far

                          Black Sunday 1977 not recognized
Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter not recognized
Nighthawks Not recognized on either release
Airport 1979 recognized as the original Airport because this movie is part of a pack with all Airport movies. I think if I did not have earlier releases of Airport 75 and 77 using the versions on this pack would also identify as first Airport.

Has anyone gotten Taken on DVD to work? It's listed as a D2D title, yet when I try to upgrade, it says it is not part of the conversion program.

I just tried the 4-pack last night. Only the original Airport identified correctly. The other 3 movies (Airport 75, Airport 77 and Airport 79) all identified as the first movie.
