Wreck It Ralph - Walmart / Vudu Promo ?

Ok so here's the big question.

    Blu-Ray / DVD release is March 5th

    Digital release is February 12th.

Even Vudu is stating you can OWN a digital copy on Feb 12, with digital rentals to follow on Mar 5th.

So if you pre-order in Wal-Mart will you have access to your digital copy on Feb 12th?

I don't know if anyone can answer or not but figure we need to get a thread going on this one as there's lots of separate interest in many other threads.

For the most part, the only type of preorders that are available at Walmart are ones that are going to come with a UV code that can be redeemed some where: Vudu, Flixster ect.

What we are probably going to get on February 12th is only the opportunity to buy from Vudu, the HD digital copy.

When the Blu-Ray / DVD release happens on March 5th the only code in that release will more than likely only be for iTunes.

Perhaps it might cost Vudu too much money but I have seem them offer "Vudu" digital copies with Blu-Ray purchase that were not UV titles. Fingers crossed.

This is true but usually aren't those like B type movies like Noobz ?

I've got my figures crossed as well that a digital copy of the movie will be released for Vudu with the purchase of the Blu-ray / DVD combo. But I might be crossing them for a very long time. Well at least till March 5th

            This would be cool then.
Vudu code or not, I'm still buying the Blu-ray when this movie comes out.

Justified Season 3 Walmart/Vudu preorder came with a Vudu copy of the season, which is not UV compatible. Therefore, it could be possible there will be one for WiR. Whether there actually is I certainly hope so. It would be even better if it was UV also, but I'm not holding my breathe.

Walmart ad this week mentioned the pre-order for Rise of the Guardians but no mention of Wreck it Ralph which is a bummer:

Rise of the Guardians = Dreamworks Animation (Ultraviolet member)
Wreck It Ralph = Disney (non-ultraviolet member)

Would only make sense that Rise Of The Guardians can be played early on Vudu

Yes I think most people here know that Disney is non UV and that Dreakworks is but it is not a given that Walmart would be doing a pre-order for Rise Of the Guardians which is why I posted it, along with the fact that there was no mention of a pre-order for Wreck it Ralph, UV or not, which would likely be coming this week if it was going to.

Re: Wreck It Ralph - Walmart / Vudu Promo ?

Vudu is helping push Ultraviolet movies. Vudu (IMO) is one of the biggest contributors to the growth of UV. With that said, UV movies will have pre-order bonuses (for the most part / depending on the company)

If Wreck It Ralph has a pre-order bonus (seeing it is non UV and Disney) at Walmart, then that would hint that Disney is considering turning either promotional (on Vudu)(which would make me buy more disney movies) or Disney is turning UV (which would make me buy more disney movies).

But, alas, Disney wants us to spend $22 for SD copies of their movies (some) and they are money hungry, unallowing us to share movies between accounts (benefit of UV, which they are against).

I have 0.03% hope that it will have a pre-order bonus, but the fact of the mentioned items above makes it in reality, a 0.00% chance.

If I am wrong, I will admit it, but I don't see it happening anytime soon =(

Re: Wreck It Ralph - Walmart / Vudu Promo ?

I think part of Disney's reluctance is that they know that people are breaking apart the combi packs and they don't want to loose the extra sales. In general there seems to be more people breaking UV combos compared to itunes combos.

Disney also likes to be in control of things and UltraViolet seems to afford them less control compared to iTunes, which they also have an existing comfort level with.

I really can't see Disney doing another (different) format at this point unless it's something that they ALLOW access into UV but isn't an official UV title so they can do what they want with it.

I was all set to get this one. Until I saw the price! $22 is too much! It sounded like they were going to try to really sell this early for cheap than DVD. Guess they are not as smart as Fox. However, Amazon get's love, they have it for $14.99. I don't know who sets the prices though.

Went to Walmart today and there is definitely no Wreck it Ralph pre-order cards or anything. Major fail by Walmart as I would have got it even though its not UV.
