List of Upcoming Titles Available for 'Disc-to-Digital?"

    Hi there -

Is there a list/website available where new titles are now available for the disc-to-digital process? I noticed that my '28 Days Later' is not available but the sequel, '28 Weeks Later' is .... I found that to be curious.

Anyway - is there such a site that will point to what is newly available for the disc-to-digital process?

    Thank you!

I've been updating anchor bay and fox studios on my threads and the Weinstein company. Just haven't had a lot of free time to update them all. It does show what currently is not d2d so if you see one that is just reply on the thread and i'll update it.

Oddly, Vudu doesn't provide their customers with a list of D2D titles or provide us with a way to learn about new titles added to D2D. CinemaNow does this, but they don't have as many titles as Vudu yet and they also have a few titles that Vudu doesn't have.

Something else that we've found with D2D using VuduToGo is that some titles are not allowed to be bought even though they are available for Disc to Digital. We tried putting in "Puss In Boots" last week and the program read the disc but said that it wasn't available for Disc to Digital. We had to go to Walmart for that movie.

Hmmm ... strange. Is there a expiration date for when the newer releases are eligible for the disc-to-digital program? For example, 'The Dark Knight Rises?'

Anyway- I must say that I love this new disc-to-digital program. Love having my library stream rather than lug around my DVDs. I hope the program does well and continues to expand with support!

No expiration date as of yet.

A bunch of people wanting an upgraded version of some of the Warner UV titles had to redeem them through CinemaNow's D2D program, like Horrible Bosses.

Looking through D2D's more recent releases then you are looking at films that were cinematically released in 2011, thats the kind of time frame I think the studios are putting on films for D2D release generally. The only film I can even think of from 2012 on D2D is probably Underworld Awakening. All the other bigger name recent releases I can think of, things like:

                Transformers 3
                Rio
                X-Men First Class
                Fast Five
                Ghost Protocol
                Bridesmaids
                Kung Fu Panda 2
                Puss in Boots
                Super 8
                Hugo
                The Adventures of Tin Tin

..are all from 2011 for instance.

                  Hello,

We are all victims of marketing decisions from Vudu, Corp.. You can not really fault them. They are trying to keep the lights on and put their kids through college.

Anyway, decisions that force customers to keep returning to their site to check for updates on D2D conversion of their existing media is one such deliberate decision.

Also, not having the option to upgrade from SD to HD of existing titles. It drives customers to go for the more expensive HDX option when making purchases since the decision can not be revisited w/o paying full HDX price.

They are good people. They just do not have much of any competition and can make such crafted choices. Apple iTunes and Amazon are really the only other big players out there and Vudu only competes with them superficially.

Apple is locked on iOS devices and Amazon is trying to corner the content delivery to Android devices. Vudu is banking on the IPTV customers. So really they each are by themselves in their respective markets and there is little real competition at this formitive point in the advent of this new product delivery system.

at least, that is my take.

                  -Walter

HD and HDX purchases are the same price. New release rentals are often priced $1 more, though, but that's not D2D.

And I think you may be giving "marketing" too much (or not enough) credit... there is no nefarious plan to force customers to do anything, D2D is a service that will continue to be improved over time; customer feedback is appreciated and you'll likely see many of these features in future releases...

I think D2D is a great service. Just remember it's not even a year old yet, so it's still in development, and new features will be added. You could consider it a beta program. We know that the CFF is coming this summer. Also the UV Promotion give away. And UV hardware will be released. I think that will draw in a lot of new users if they are good movies that people want. Over time, more catalog releases will be added. They may want to wait until a title is released on blu-ray, or a special event occurs, i.e. an anniversary of a film, or when a sequel comes out. Also, new retailers will be coming on board. There is a lot to look forward to this year. At this time next year, the format will be much more mature, and I think Disney will finally come on board.

I seriously doubt Disney, in fact I boycott purchasing any Disney until they get off their high horse and join AND their titles are UV. I am still waiting for MGM d2d, tons of titles I want to covert.

PS @ KeanuReeves, Tell vudu we want point break (the best movie you've ever been in and that includes Matrix, and why does your voice sound exactly the same in all your movies "I knew you wouldn't miss this Body, you gotta go down..."

                            Jake,

Hello and thank you for your response. I too am an engineer at a company. To think the marketing folks are not product crafting to ARPU (Average Revenue Per Unit) is not living in reality. They are, but they are not to be faulted for doing so. It is their job.

As I said, they are good folks and market leaders in the streaming of purchased content for IP TV. I love it. I am a big fan.

Perhaps you can ask at the next product crafting meeting you are invited to for you to be allowed to add a button that will upgrade a purchased SD title to HDX with only the cost delta between the two being charged instead of the full HDX price.

I think you will find a cool reception to the idea. I suspect it will not be entertained until market forces hold thier feet to the fire to make them have to shave some arpu off. That is a few years away at my estimation.

I may be wrong though. Perhaps they will say, "Hey, that is a great idea!".

                            Sincerely,

                            -Walter
