Early releases are a great feature when it comes to digital streaming. It's most appealing when prices like $14.99 make them affordable. Life of Pi for $14.99 is sweet. Wreck It Ralph for $22.99 is not appealing at that price (i know, I know...Disney has us by the man-grapes!).

And those special Walmart preorder promos that provide early viewing on Vudu are fantasic! More please!!!

Keep the early releases on Vudu coming!

      Re: Early Digital Releases

I agree, I did the bourne legacy throught best buy cinema now, it was a week early. The extra uv code that came with the blu ray combo I sold it to get a little bit more savings from the early bird price.

I also preordered skyfall from walmart/vudu and with the additional hdx copy of casino royale a $14.99 value it was to good of a deal to pass up. There is no uv code or disc to digital for that movie so for $18.98 I got 2 movies, 2 hdx vudu copies, 1 blu ray, 1 dvd, and 1 itunes sd digital copy.

I am hoping the Hobbit does this also, I have not seen it but I feel getting it a week would be cool.
I think if the studios want success with increasing sales of physical copies this is a good way to do it.

Sometimes they show up in the "coming soon" tab on Vudu. I've kept an eye out for a few that way. Not all do though. Life of Pie and Red Dawn did not.

I am pinning my hopes on "To The Arctic".

I like HD nature flicks to go to sleep to. I have "Winged Migration" and "March of the Penguins" both in HDX which I watch a lot.

Amazing how much more I enjoy these titles when they are point-and-click available. When they were media in a case on a shelf, I never watched them.

Is there a source listing the Wal-mart in-store preorder deals?

Likewise on Wreck it Ralph 3D digital only at $34.99. No reason it needs to be $12 more than 2D version or the same price as getting the 3D Blu-Ray, 2D Blu-Ray, 2D DVD, & 2D iTunes Digital Copy from Amazon for the SAME price.

Hmmm one copy of the movie or 5 copies of the movie for the same price. Oh COME ON Disney ! ! !

Any chance we see a Wal-Mart pre-order for that in the next week or two?

Well I hear they usually set their new movies on Monday nights to get ready for the Tuesday releases, so there might be a chance that it will be put out tonight for the change over

i think these digital early releases are a rip off. You are essentially paying full price for the digital copy, which, as we have seen, is only valued at around $3-$4.

Perfect example was Rise of The Guardians. My local Wal-Mart had it with an early digital Vudu release, but the title was $5 more than Amazon for otherwise the same title. Both also came with release date UV copy. So basically I was paying $5 extra to own so many days early. There was no extra value.

Now Twilight and to a greater extent the last Bond were a different story. You got early release, plus a second free movie, plus it was less than Amazon and other retailers.

Rise of the Guardians pre-order was only 18.96 the week it came out at Walmart then went up to $24.96 the next week. Twilight combo was actually $24.96 the week it came out, dropped to $18.96 the next, then went back up to $24.96. Just have to be lucky with the timing I guess.

Agree, I'll always check Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy just to name a few before making a decision to purchase.
