How about a 5 minute preview?

I would like to suggest that the 2 minute preview be extended to 5 minutes for each movie. On most movies 2 minutes barley gets you past the opening credits, and is not enough time to evaluate the video or audio quality of the film, which is the reason I would watch the preview. If the preview was 5 minutes, I would probably purchase more films. Especially older films that I would worry about the picture quality!

I've been thinking that for some time. I think DirecTV actually allows 10 mins. Allows you more time to get hooked and end up buying the movie too.

DirecTV gives 5 minutes for most PPV or video on demand. Some titles they do have an extended 10 minutes freeview.

If we can only get a 2 minute preview here on Vudu, please sample the movie in the middle.

The 2 minute preview is a virtually worthless when it comprises opening credits.

+1, I agree that 2 min is useless.

+1. It's so annoying to try the free preview, only to sit through all the studio logos, then a B&W shot panning slowly across the ground or some trees with credits superimposed, then to have the preview end before there's any dialog or even any glimpse of any characters/actors.

Sure, but only for 90-minute-long movies.

We agree...2 minutes from the beginning of the movie isn't enough. We don't even waste time with 2 minute previews anymore. We watch the trailer when available and when not available we move on to something else.

Seems like 5 to 10 minutes would be perfect.

The 2 minute preview is mainly to test your connection, video and audio quality of a movie. The trailers are to inform you about the movie itself.

Watching the opening credits, which usually consists of white text appearing over a black background, or something similar, is not a good test of video quality of the actual film. That's why I asked for 5 minutes. Whoever asked for 2.5 hours was just joking. If you can't offer 5 mins, what about taking the sample during a scene that isn't the opening credits?

There are plenty of movies that don't have trailers though so I use the preview which is in many cases way to short.

Per our contracts, the allotted time for the 2 minute preview is selected by the studio. However, VUDU has on-going discussions with each of the major motion picture studios to continuously improve our service and user experience. We'll pass this request on to the proper people for you.
