I said this already but really x100 wish D2D allowed you to just get HD even if HD isn't available, so when (and if) it is, you get the HDX edition. I have so many BDs and even DVDs, I want in HD that are HD on CN but SD here.

I'm sure it's a legal thing. That said when I'm using D2D to convert a (Blu-Ray) title and it's only (currently) SD I won't pay the $2 because when / if it becomes available in HD/HDX I have no assurance I won't have to pay $2 all over again. If I knew it was covered I would gladly do it.

All of these titles showed HD for $2 on my list. It didn't do the usual thing where it gives me an option for $2 SD or $5 HD. I chose Blu-ray for each title and it allowed me to enter them for $2 each. When I go to the movie title page, it shows that I OWN the HDX version, but I only have the option to PLAY the SD version. This is only happening with The Sentinel and with Aliens.

For the record, these are the same screens I see on my PC, on my PS3, and on my OPPO93, so its not a HDCP issue

That depends on the media that you're using to watch the movie. If you're wanting to watch on a laptop, then SD might be the only way you can see it. If you're trying to watch it on a blu-ray player or Roku then you should definitely be able to watch the HDX version.

You're not understanding me. On my laptop, I can watch the HDX version of Lord of War, but I can't watch the HDX version of the Sentinel or Aliens, even though my account CLEARLY shows that I own the HDX version. A VUDU rep told me that they don't have the rights to the HDX version of Aliens anymore, but they still show it as available when doing D2D. I am ****ed off, since I wouldn't have wasted $4 and my time converting these two titles, in fact I wouldn't have done ANY of the Aliens movies, if they weren't going to be in HDX. So I'm really out $8. Seriously, who wants to watch Aliens in SD???

Once I do the LOTR movies tonight, I'm done with D2D. I'm so disappointed in VUDU and WM...

Not all movies are available to watch in HDX via the laptop so I don't know what you're not understanding? There are some of my 88 movies that I can watch in HDX on a laptop and some that I can't.

Nevermind. I'm saying that on ALL of my devices, PS3, OPPO 93, AND my laptop, these two titles can only be played in SD. However, right below the icon of the movie, it shows that I own the HDX version. Please see the pictures I attached if you don't understand.

I'm still waiting on a VUDU mod here to help me understand this. Why tell me I own the HDX version if I can only play the SD version???

Oh I think I see what you're saying now. I had this happen on one of my Vudu movies called "Next". I think that they no longer have the rights to sell this movie in HD any longer but since we bought the copy when it was available and I did a D2D from a blu-ray disk. If you start to watch the movie, you will get the HDX version even if it says that it's only available in SD. I don't know how to insert a picture but this happened to me also before. I was worried about it until I started watching it and it was HDX. I also called customer support and they didn't even know that we would be able to watch it in HDX.

Losing the rights to access the movies you've purchased is the biggest concern I've heard about UV. They MUST fix this problem!

I looked into this issue a bit and forwarded it along to a few other developers... it looks like there is something odd with Aliens Special Edition - it was pulled per studio request so that may be why you can't watch HD/HDX. Though in this case that would be an issue with D2D which shouldn't offer the HD version. I'll see if in fact it is ok for HD D2D, and if not you should request a refund if you don't want the SD. (of course it's possible that it will be approved again in the future).

For The Sentinel the only issue I see is that we do not yet have the HD/HDX streams encoded for PC playback, but I don't see an issue with devices (PS3, etc). Are you sure that title also does not play in HD/HDX on the PS3 for you? I just tried it and HDX works fine for me...

Thank you Jake for looking into this for me. Tonight I tried playing The Sentinel and Aliens on my OPPO 93 player, and they both worked, and both showed up as HDX. This afternoon they did not do either.
