Unless you ask the people over at DECE...and they say, "what's good for the gander is good for the goose".

Not necessarily, those behind the UV consortium are sorta-kinda okay with it (or at least aren't positioning themselves to "police it") according to this money quote from Jim Taylor, Head of Technology & Product Development, DECE / UV.

He is speaking of the sale of UV redemption codes on eBay, but goes on to cover more:

"I am not a lawyer, so I wont address the question if it is legal or not, but the interesting thing to me is the view point that I take is anything that helps consumers build a library of content is a good thing.

That is part of the reason that the studios have embraced WalMart's Disc-to-Digital program and some other programs, at pretty low cost. For $2, I can take a dvd I actually bought used at a store for $1 then bring it into the UltraViolet system.

Part of the reason for that is the studios realize that once consumers get kind of a critical mass of an UltraViolet collection, that is what will drive them to buying more content and new content often at full price.

So, it is not necessarily a bad thing. Again, I am not speaking for UltraViolet nor as a lawyer, officially, but you think that there is a demand for the codes. That the prices are being driven up on ebay. That it is helping people build content.

So as long as it doesn't get out of hand, you can actually look at it as a good thing for the ecosystem. That there is interest. That people want to buy the codes. That they want to build their libraries.

Just like, you know, when we were all teenagers taping songs off of the radio for free, eventually we all became consumers and we paid for albums and CDs and everything else. All that kind of behavior on the fringes of the system can actually be good for the system."
Thanks to Walter-S_North_Carolina for transcribing it and mentioning it here.

Why would they give you two UV copies?

The preorder promotion was for an early Vudu copy - not an early UV copy. It sure will be cool if it suddenly becomes UV on the 16th but I'm not counting on it.
My Django Unchained preorder on VUDU went UV today. It is in my Flixster, UVVU, CinemaNow and my UV Members accounts.

I received my preorder Blu-ray yesterday but have not opened it because their is no need to enter/re-enter the 'extra' UV code to get your UV copy.

Game of Thrones is not UV on VUDU yet. But, if you still have your UV code for GoT which you redeemed on VUDU you can redeem same code on Flixster for the UV copy. Your UV members have to watch GoT via Flixster.

Vudu has Django with the UV logo but CinemaNow still hasn't turned on UV for it. I bought Django pro order on Best Buy and got a CinemaNow code.

You are right I just looked and non the Starz and Weinstein movies on CinemaNow are UV enabled so I guess I will redeem my CinemaNow code for Django now since it won't be UV anytime soon.

I am going to hold off on redeeming the code because I was checking my email for the code Best Buy sent me and I found this in a email from CinemaNow. See the UV logo in the bottom right. http://db.tt/QUKblKSF

Make sure the code doesn't expire but Django is UV for me on CN. Btw has anyone tried unlinking their UV and then relinking to see if that triggers an update for new UV titles that were previously not UV?

Cinemanow has no problem importing, it has a big problem exporting UV rights. I have paramount UV movies that have been imported

I think Django may go UV tomorrow on CinemaNow since people are reporting it importing from UV.

I don't think the CinemaNow preorder codes expire anytime soon because I can still find:
                            Argo http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ROXIO+CI...2059&sellerId=

                            Taken 2 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ROXIO+CI...4046&sellerId=

                            Bourne Legacy http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ROXIO+CI...2232&sellerId=

                            The Dark Knight Reborn http://www.bestbuy.com/site/CINEMANO...3516&sellerId=

These can still be bought on Best Buy. You originally got these codes for free if you pre-ordered the Blu-ray disc.

I contacted CinemaNow support and asked them when they would get UV export rights and they said soon. I then if I buy it today would it automatically export to UV once they got the rights and she said yes. I had her make a note on my account to that effect. I when printed a pdf copy of the chat and email it to myself in case it doesn't automatically export to UV once they get the UV rights. I then redeemed the pre order code and didn't UV rights.
