Some disks come with a code that works for UltraViolet and also Digital Copy

This may be "old news" for many, but it's new to me and I wanted to share.

I am noticing that some discs I buy are coming with a code that lets me redeem both in UltraViolet (for Vudu) as well as iTunes. I like this a lot! I consider this a wonderful perk. I like having the title in both clouds whenever I can. Two notable examples of this recently for me are Ted, and Dredd.

It's notable simply because there was a rash of discs I had in the past whose paper slip had wording that said "UltraViolet and Digital Copy" and when I tried using it, it would work on one service, and when I tried the other, it would say "this code has already been redeemed." The paper slip really should have used the word "or" and made it clear we needed to pick one. So I would have to tread carefully, for fear of redeeming it incorrectly. Mostly due to my growing UV library, thanks to the D2D program, I'm now selecting UltraViolet as my "first choice."

That being said, these new titles are working on both, and I'm getting the title in both services, and I like that. I hope it becomes more standard protocol.

Universal does this for nearly every disc, I have so many unused iTunes codes since I don't use iTunes and just redeem the UV portion. I should start redeeming them for Amazon.

Some Universal movies will also allow you redeem on Vudu, iTunes, and then Amazon. I use the iTunes code for my Apple TV 2nd Generation and my dad's iPhone.

Cool - got an example of a title like that? Every time I've seen one that lists all three as options, it's actually been Vudu + (iTunes or Amazon.) IE: I've never been able to actually redeem it at both iTunes AND Amazon. I'd like to see one that actually allows for redemption at all three...

How and where do you redeem them on Amazon? And what do you get the rental version or ?

Sorry I've never heard of redeeming codes on Amazon. Except when you buy a certain movie, you get a 30 day rental period of the movie.

Amazon has their own streaming cloud for purchased movies too: http://www.amazon.com/Instant-Video/...ode=2858778011

You get access to the movie "indefinitely" -- just like Ultraviolet and iTunes Purchases in the Cloud. They are not rentals, and this is not to be confused with Amazon Instant Prime, which is kinda like Netflix.

I have Amazon Prime and have purchased streaming movies there on the cloud, but he said:

American Reunion, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, and Ted are in my Vudu, iTunes, and Amazon accounts. I redeemed the code one after another after another maybe Universal marked the code used.

Amazon Prime is a flat annual fee, for inexpensive expedited shipping, that gives you access to a (limited) streaming catalog. Like Netflix. There is no "purchasing streaming movies there on the cloud."

Amazon Instant is a the service that lets you buy individual movies and TV shows. Wider catalog, newer titles. And they stream from like cloud like Vudu does. Some discs these days come with codes that work with Amazon Instant.

I know about Prime and Instant (they are actually linked together in one service on many devices). I was also aware of the iTunes/UV dual use codes.

The question above is my question, as well. And, do the slips specifically mention Amazon redemption or is it seen on the studio redemption site?

The Amazon redemption is listed on the studio redemption site. Some titles offer you UV and a Digital copy from your choice of iTunes or Amazon. If you select Amazon you are given an Amazon promotional code you enter on the amazon site at the page of that particular title. You then buy the title and the value of the promo code is used towards that purchase.

Thanks for the information! I guess maybe I'll start redeeming codes at the studio sites at see how that goes.

Just a heads up, when you do redeem this on Amazon, the code is for the SD VERSION ONLY. I tried to use it for an HD purchase once, since it was the same price and the same movie, and the credit did not apply. So even if HD and SD are the same price, make sure you only use the code for SD.

I had that happen to me once but luckily Amazon gave me a refund since I didn't watch the movie.
