    Itunes code to UV codes

Anyone have any luck changing old, unused iTunes digital copy codes into Vudu/UV codes?
I hear you can email Universal and/or WB and get the codes changed but haven't read to many success stories?
I never use iTunes so UV/Vudu is the way to go for me. Thanks in advanced.

I would love to convert my iTunes movies to Vudu but I don't think it will happen until Apple joins UV?

I was just rummaging through my DVDs to get them ready to bring into WalMart for D2D conversion. I like to take out the magnetic security strips before I go in so I do not set off the alarms on my way back out.

Anyway, I found a Digital Copy Authorization Code insert in my copy of Coraline. I submitted an inquiry to Universal Digital Copy support to see if I can redeem this Digital Copy Authorization Code as a UV copy instead of a Digital Copy.

I will let you know how they respond.

BTW, I too have no desire to redeem this code into iTunes. If they say 'no', I will instead cough up the $5 to get it into my UV locker in 1080p via D2D.

I've been pulling the strips out too. Seems silly, since the lone time I set off the alarm, no one seemed to care.

Yesterday, I got a response from UniversalDigitalCopy Support. They robotically issued me a new DigitalCopy code. I responded back that instead I am looking to convert it to UV using the DigitalCopy code.

I guess I wait another week. I'll follow up when they respond.

I got the same response from WB's support. They just gave me new iTunes codes instead of UV. Seems like they don't actually read the emails. I'll also try to email them back and see what they say. I sent a ticket through universal but have not heard anything back in a week. Im going to try to email them again.

strangely, in a few cases, it seems like one studio has "sort of" started doing this with a few titles. I forget which studio. Might have been universal or Paramount. Basically it was some of the titles where you had to go to their website to enter the code (as opposed to inserting the disc & then opening iTunes). And rather than JUST listing iTunes / WMP, it also listed VUDU as an option for DC redemption. Now, granted, the original Digital Copy was "Standard Def" even though the disc was Blu-Ray. But it did let me choose VUDU and redeem through VUDU and the title was UV so I got a SD UV copy of the movie.

Not saying that e-mailing support will net the same result. The couple times I've tried corresponding with support folks, I've gotten form letters, generic responses or the ol' "Sorry it's Digital Copy, not UV digital copy; nothing we can do."

So, unfortunately,l I don't think they're interchangeable. I wish they eventually would be. But one assume it has to do with how the original DC was licensed, what definition, how it was allowed to be delivered, etc. Which isn't to say they couldn't void one code and offer a different code. But they seem reticent to do that.

                Hello,

Thank you for contacting the Digital Copy support. The digital copy for this title is only offered through iTunes and Windows Media Player.

                Thank you.
                Universal Digital Copy Support

I got the above response back from Universal. I guess a title originally issued with a DigitalCopy Authorization Code is not available to also now have a UV Authorization Code issued since it was not originally issued at the time if distribution.

Although the title is now a UV title that can be put into the UV locker via a D2D service, it can not be done FoC from the distribution studio.

                bummer...
