    Iron man 3 pre-order - Info

Can a VUDU representative please explain what is included with the Wal-Mart Preorder for Iron Man 3? I read the case at the store but it wasn't as easy for me to understand as say, GI Joe Retaliation. Does the purchaser get a VUDU/UV copy of Iron Man 3 added to their VUDU/UV locker at some point in the future, or is it just early access to additional special features that may or may not be on the Blu-ray disc itself upon release?

If I can't watch Iron man 3 on through my Vudu account eventually, I will pass on the pre-order. I couldn't care less about early access to special features.

Thanks in advance to whomever can definitively answer these questions for all of us.

Good question and can we also find out why these pre-order offers are never available online?

Disney is the studio that will release Iron Man 3 on DVD & Blu Ray. Unfortunately, Disney does not currently offer VUDU/UV copies of their movies when you purchase a physical copy. This pre-order will net you a physical copy of the BD combo and a digital copy obtainable through their site or iTunes (as well as the exclusive VUDU content listed on the pre-order packaging) when it is available. If you want to add this movie to your digital locker, you're going to have to purchase it seperately once it is closer to releasing. Sadly, this means I will have to buy the movie twice because I want it added to my locker as well as owning a physical copy for my movie cabinet.

That's easy. Walmart wants you to have to go into the stores and walk clear to the back so you will see other stuff spend money on it. Its part of their business model. That is part of the reason most of their pharmacies were pushed back into the back half of the stores.

I am curious about this. If there is a promotion between Disney and Walmart for a Vudu digital copy of Ironman 3 when it is available on Bluray Disc, that would be an indication Disney is moving to UV.

The last time they tried this was awhile ago and if their new practice is to team with WalMart/Vudu for digital copies, then Disney UV can't be too far behind.

Pls confirm that is what you saw in the store. Thx a bunch.

Here is what you will receive when you pre-order Iron Man 3 at Wal-Mart.

            Immediately upon redemption:
            1. Lego Iron Man: Backyard Battle (featurette)
            2. Iron Man 3: Extremis (featurette)
            3. Iron Man 3: Iron Man and Hulk ? Heroes United (sneak peak)
            4. Iron Man 3: Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. (sneak peak)

When the DVD/Blu-ray is released you will receive a digital copy of the movie on Vudu.

There is a separate redemption code that redeems the digital comic and app from Marvel.com.

Ok. So this appears to be a preorder for the standard retail Disney Blu/DVD (with no 3D disc, iTunes, or other DC), but a Vudu digital copy is included per the usual Walmart/Vudu preorder theme. Is that right?

The digital copy included is for Vudu only.

if Disney is letting their products be packaged and sold with a Vudu logo, that must mean something. Considering this time last year the Keychest system was still viable. With it out of service and Disney permitting a big block buster title to be sold with a Vudu digital copy redemption seems a pretty encouraging indicator of what the future may hold.

However, I may be reading too much into the tea leaves.

I returned my pre-order today because its not very clear about getting a copy via vudu. I guess I have to rebuy it now that I know there is going to be a copy on vudu as I do not use itunes. Maybe Wal-mart needs to be informed of this because just about everyone I talked to told me it was only going to be Itunes because Disney does not give out UV and the last time Disney did anything with VUDU was with Toy Story 3 to my knowledge Either way that distinction needs to be made instore.

It wouldn't surprise me that you only get SD since Disney is cheap. This at least means they know that a lot of people use Vudu.

This is pretty good news. It means a vudu copy of iron man 3, not a UV copy, but I'm fine with that. I will probably preorder so I get it early like all my other preorders.

If they offered this with a 3D version I would be in, but as usual it appears the deal only applies to 2D pre-orders so (likely) if you want the 3D digital copy you'll have to buy it separate from the 3D Blu-ray and (likely) at a higher price than the Blu-ray as well.

                            Sigh.
