Wish studios would offer a code swap program

Let us trade in our itunes digital copies for uv codes of the same movie. I have a ton of digital copies (itunes) that ill never use and wish they offered some way of letting the buyer get something out of these. Im aware you can sell and trade on certain forums. But, its a headache even though i do it

Universal has been known to do this from time to time, but it depends on the CS rep who answers your request. I was able to trade my Back to the Future code for a UV code from them.

I tried it with a DC of "Coriline". It is UV, so I figured I would give it a shot.

No dice on that one. I had to do a D2D to get it into my locker. Maybe it only is possible if a title ever had a UV code issued for it. Coriline is an older title and it only ever had a DC/iTunes code issued.

        just speculation.

I gave it a shot just now madmod. It may be several days before I hear anything back but I'll update in this post. I paid 30 bucks for the limited bestbuy 3d version of Despicable Me several months back and now they are selling it with a UV code (starting next week i think). I sent in the code from the digital copy and asked them could i please do an exchange for a UV code since ill never use the itunes code and can't see myself rebuying after paying $30 for the 3d bluray already. Won't be upset if they can't do it but I don't see why they wouldn't seeing how the code was never used from my itunes copy. Thanks for the help and suggestion! Stay tuned...

Very possible Walter NC...I've hit them up with one that will have a uv code as of next Tuesday even though ive seen it in stores already as of today (reason i went ahead and sent them an email). I'll post once i hear back. It sometimes takes a week to hear from Universal and being a holiday weekend upcoming. It may take a minute.

I tried and was shot down and instead they gave me a new code for the iTunes copy. When I pointed out that the code wasn't working on the Universal or Vudu web site I was told the offer that came with my copy was only good for DC and not UV. They stated my original code was only 12 characters long (which is true) and that UV codes are 16 characters long (I know that's not true as I have plenty of 12 character long UV codes). I made sure I specifically stated I wanted a UV version when I submitted my ticket.

However, I don't believe the UV version is out yet but has a summer release date. I may try again once the UV version is out.

Yep it feels like summer and like I said before, its out next week (officially) I saw it in stores today. So, yeah its about to be official one way or the other. So...go ahead and try again, it may help.

Got a UV code of Despicable Me today from Universal, not sure if that canceled out the itunes copy or not. They didn't say anything about it and I'll never try to use it so I guess I got my wish (traded for a UV copy). Only took a few days for them to get back to me. Universal has the best customer service of all the major studios IMO. Just wanted to follow up in case some of you in the same boat wanted to give it a shot.

Tried again and I was sent a regular DC code again.
