It's in our list of things to do. We have offered that for the living room devices.

You're preaching to the Choir. I love UV and don't have anything from Apple or iTunes but some people just don't get it.

Some people justify remaining in their comfort zone on the most small, obscure detail that they over inflate the importance of when there is overwhelming compelling reason to change.

        Three reasons to leave iTunes;

        1) iTunes has no way to stream to a TV w/o AppleTV in the same LAN as a computer with a downloaded copy loaded into iTunes , iTunes open, and with Homesharing on. That is a lot of prerequisites just to watch a movie on a TV.

        That is silly.

How bout two button presses on a Roku, PS3, or X-Box remote without any other prerequisites and then live VoD of your entire library w/o any digital copy download necessary?

        2) 1080p. iTunes don't got it.

        3) D2D. iTunes don't got it.

Regarding searching (website or other devices), do the studios really care if we are able to search for a title that we own? Being able to search is a faster way to find a movie since we don't have a way to position the list. Many of us are getting several hundred titles in our library and finding it difficult to find what we're looking for. VUDU is already ahead of everyone else, but having more ways to both organize and search titles in our library would be awesome.

It's good to know that some of our requests are actually on a "list".

          THANKS!

Chronicles Of Riddick is available on iTunes, but not on Vudu, CinemaNow, Amazon, or Netflix.

iTunes is exempt from the window?

iTunes has visibility windows too. I have plenty of downloads from them that I could not find if I searched the store. It's not vudu unique.

What would be the reason the Studios would want "visibility windows?" I don't get it. To sell more discs, I guess? Seems like selling both discs and by EST would be a win/win for them.

Oh well, I didn't know this because, my friends are always bragging about how great iTunes is. They can get anything they want, apps, music, movies, etc. all with no effort or problems. I argue my Android phone, tablet, Roku also has most of what Apple has but I always loose the argument. Mostly because Apple is one stop shopping. So many Apple/iTunes fans out there.

I do know there is no technical reason. Some legal mumbo-jumbo I suspect.

Next time your iTunes friends brag about how great it is, ask them if iTunes has everything, where is the app to do a D2D conversion?

I bet they think for awhile and suggest dvd-decrypting coupled with Handbreak.

                      No thx.

Two buck and I have a pro do mine and store it in a cloud video service that is vendor agnostic.

No worries about a local HD crashing. No worries about AV sync. No worries about codec mismatches. Etc..

                          Re: Hidden Titles?

I'm curious about these "hidden titles." I wonder if there is anyone out there who has any of the following movies in their vudu collection? These movies do not show up on vudu. I have always assumed that these are not UV-enabled either, but maybe one or more is UV but not on vudu anymore? Is there a comprehensive list of UV movies (a list that only considers UV, not D2D).

                          Fargo
                          Overboard
                          The Legend of Bagger Vance
                          The Princess Bride
                          City Slickers
                          The Jazz Singer (1980)
                          Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
                          When Harry Met Sally
                          The Truman Show
                          Good Morning, Vietnam
                          Short Circuit

                            Re: Hidden Titles?

A CS rep just told me I'm seeing those titles because they were previously available on Vudu.

So one assumes they have the movies, but not the rights to rent or sell them, and when you add them to your UV Vudu automatically accesses them for you. Which makes sense since Watchmen Ultimate Cut is in my UV, but not my Vudu.

This is what those who blindly love iTunes and/or hate UV don't understand or want to admit. Some people just love Apple products and can't be told differently. Not to mention Handbrake can take FOREVER when I can buy a HD copy from UV in less than 30 seconds. Great post as always Walter.
