50% off for D2D changed to 2 or more discs? VUDU - Please confirm?

I have 8 movies in my queue ready to checkout. I was waiting until I had 10 to get the 50% off, but now the message on the order summary says you only have to convert 2 or more. When I click on "Proceed to Checkout" it doesn't show the discount. I want to confirm that I will received the discount before paying.

Can you please confirm this change VUDU rep?

    Thank you.

Maybe it said "you need to convert 2 more" for the discount? (ie 8 + 2 = 10)

Ahhh, that's probably it. I will assume this is the case. Thanks!

At least 10 at once, in order to qualify for the 50% discount.

But the app/service is smart enough to save your queue, so you can build it up over many days and app launches, until you get there.

You will only get the 50% discount if you submit the order (ie: complete the transaction) with 10 or more discs.

I plan to do a few batches of at least 10 discs at a time.

What about in-store D2D? Does that not count? There are still many titles that do not work in VUDU ToGo.

The discount is only applicable for In-Home during this promotion.
The cart total calculation automatically gives you the discount where In-Store does not.

They're supposed to, I gather, but VUDU To Go is still in beta. I personally haven't come across that many in that category, fortunately. Do you have a list of titles that show up as Disc to Digital compatible but that VUDU To Go rejects? Have you reported them?

There are a ton of titles which aren't identified or mismapped and yes they've been reported for many months on end with no end in site.

I just tried "16 Blocks" and it didn't work on the Vudu2Go but it is available on D2D. Also, only the first "Nightmare on Elm Street" worked for me and not any of the others. It would be great to get this discount in the store since they're not working by using the application.

That was sort of my point. It's a bit of an inconvenience to us when we have to take DVDs into Walmart and wait around for someone who knows how to do Disc-2-Digital.

However... There MIGHT be a way around that, stemming from a frustration I encountered recently.

When I went into Wal-Mart, after putting about $700-$800 worth of stuff into my VUDU2Go account, and handed the Photo Center gal my list, she said that the ONLY thing it would let her do was to "add to cart." That is, she couldn't JUST process the smaller list I handed her that was the stuff from my in-store conversion list. 'Cause it seems like the VUDU2Go and the in-store conversion utilize the same "cart." So, I told her to just "add to cart" WITHOUT deleting the original cart contents.

When I got home all the store conversion stuff was then listed in my VUDU2Go cart. I haven't paid for any of it yet because A) it's too big an order & B) the recent software upgrade made my cart disappear (they're working on getting it back to showing up in VUDU2Go, or so I hear).

So, it MIGHT be possible to use the in-store D2D conversion option to put non-in-home-compatible discs/titles into your VUDU2Go cart, if they take your list of stuff in your in-home queue associated with the account associated with VUDU2Go and "add to cart" w/o deleting the original primary cart contents first.

If that's the case, one assumes that once it's in your VUDU2Go cart you can go home, buy it through VUDU2Go and get the discount?

Anyone care to comment on whether this approach would work? ^_^

I *think* it would... If they take your list made through the VUDU web site & printed out (w/o deleting the stuff from your website queue) and access your account, move/merge your queue'd items into your "cart" and then leave it that way w/o deleting anything or finishing the "purchase."

But someone from VUDU should confirm this solution would work... Sneaky as it is. An exploit of sorts to get the discount on things that don't recognize automatically via your home computer but you can find the titles for in the web queuing system to take in to a Wal-Mart Photo Center & have them "add to cart" & then stop w/o messing with anything else...?

                        Cheers,
                        ~MG

P.S. Don't know if anyone has a small cart (just a few recognized items, so nothing to "lose" if things go south) in VUDU2Go and wants to try the exploit @ a nearby Wal-Mart & see if they can then go home and pay for everything through VUDU2Go and get the discount?

Ohh, there's all sorts of stuff VUDU2Go doesn't recognize properly for one reason or another. Most of the Star Trek Blu-Rays ONLY recognize as Voyage Home. None of the LotR blu-rays from the expensive Extended Edition set recognize properly (or didn't the last time I checked a week ago). Both work fine for putting them on the in-store queue via the web site. Various other series have spotty or no recognition. Lethal Weapon series Blu-ray set didn't recognize properly. Seem to recall a few of them might have come up as Mad Max or something similar. So, yeah, there are still a bunch of big-name titles that just don't work right, currently. The Matrix Blu-Ray set, I think 1 & 2 work fine, 3 throws an error, but the DVD version recognizes fine.

Do what I did and call ahead. Just say, is anyone there or will anyone be there today who is familiar with the Disc2Digital program?

If you use the web title queue and print it out w/o deleting the items from your queue, the lady at my walmart explained all they have to do is open their dealie, type in the account info, and tell it to "add to cart" whereupon it moves stuff from the web queue to the cart, and then you can "purchase it." (Or not, in my case 'case the "cart" is shared with VUDU2Go, it would seem and I didn't have the money to buy both carts, so I just had her add to cart and went home, now the titles are in my VUDU2Go cart, well, once they get it working again after the recent upgrade).

Anyway, the point is, the process is pretty simple once they get it figured out... Just have to give 'em a buzz and see when the person(s) familiar with the program will be available & maybe let 'em know you're coming.

I have been doing this a while, so I know the process is EASY. I always have to help the new person working in the photo lab through the process. Now I have D2D coupons and trying to use them takes even more time because the Walmart system tells them the coupon cannot be used for D2D when they scan it. So I have to wait for a manager to come and read the coupon and they almost always ask "what is D2D". Anyway, I think the process might be too simple for them or something.

Based on my experience, giving them a call to ask that question would probably be a fun experiment...but in the end a waste of time.
