This is different with disc read error. You are encourage to try again (due to server connection at the time), or please notify us about the disc title, type, UPC that you have.

      Thanks,

          Hi LLN,

It is not an option for me to turn off RAID (to switch RAID to AHCI). There needs to be a fix for this issue that allows RAID users to access this feature. I am positive that Vudu is losing out on quite a lot of revenue due to this. There will be more and more RAID configurations out there, it is quickly become the standard in desktop configurations, and most computer users shouldn't or shouldn't have to muck about with registry and BIOS settings to get one specific application to work. I have an ASUS Desktop PC CM6870 Series running windows 8 x64. Let me know how I can help debug. I am also a software developer, of 20 years experience (most of that in storage and virtualization).

Thank you very much for the offering. Please do tell us if you really have RAID configuration. If you don't have RAID then it doesn't make sense to configure BIOS that way.

I looked at the specs and it seems to be Intel core based motherboard. Please install the current Intel Rapid Storage to see if it helps your issue.

            Thanks,
            LLN

I get this error quite often, but only with certain discs. I have tried them on at least three different disc drives. I have run into the communication error a few times, which does work later, and I've also had issues where certian discs never come up with anything, but work on other drives. So you're saying that this is due to a communication error?

                Re: Error reading DVD disc.

I still get it with a handful of disc but have done over 100 others with no issue, mostly older two sides dvds and those dvds that are a DVD and also include a digital copy on the same disc. I updated the rapid support thing and tried it on 4 computers including a mac. These are the ones I can remember all are double sided dvd disc but Failure to Launch.

                Phonebooth 024543080480

Failure to Launch 097363449140 (CinemaNow & Flixster reads this one, so not disc for sure)

                The Freshman 043396702998

I ♥ Huckabees 024543169482 (CinemaNow & Flixster reads this one, so not disc for sure)

I've tried them several times since I have a pile of DVDs that I try every month or two since the program updated to see if fixed or updated titles.

                  Re: Error reading DVD disc.

No activity for 30 days, that's either great news or really distressing.

I've got a case of the can't convert a single DVD blues. It's a white box system, ASRock motherboard with AMD chipset, so the ISRT fix won't work. All ISO software disabled, Drive set to region 1, and BIOS set to AHCI. Just updated all drivers and still no go.

What are the instructions for generating debug logs?

I am having a very simular problem. I am new to Vudu, but LOVE the idea/concept! I have been sucessfull in converting only a couple. MOST of them i get error messages OR I put in a bluray and it only sees it as a DVD. I have also sit down with a stack of bluerays (and some DVDs) and one after the other...does not work...Last night, I had one that work...that was it, so of course I did not do it. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE...get it working right. I know it is in BETA still, but get it working. I WANT to give you my money!!! LOL

I am having the same error message as everyone else I tried updating my
drivers and that did not fix the problem. So my question is if I go with an External drive
is there a certain type I will need to get or will about any type work? I have an ASUS K55 series.
also if I am going to get a external hard drive if I spent the extra money and bought a Blu-ray
drive would it work on my computer that the internal drive is a regular DVD CD drive?

I purchased an external Panasonic blu-ray drive to convert the blu-rays which also reads dvds, and I still have the same issue on some dvds and blu-ray disks.

There's 2 different types of disc read errors. 1 that affects every disc you put in that is user specific (what this thread was originally about) and an error that affects certain discs which is disc specific (mainly double sided DVDs but it affects Blu Rays and 1 sided DVDs on occasion). Sounds like you're fine and the errors you are getting are the errors that everyone would get with those discs.
