Forgot to say, the only part of Vudu to go that doesn't work is the disc to digital. It plays my movies just fine, it just wont recognize any dvds to the Disc to Digital upgrade.

Are you running VUDU To Go and VirtualBox simultaneously? If so, can you try shutting down that Windows 8 virtual machine and then start VUDU To Go again to see if that makes a difference? Just a shot in the dark, but that way you could rule out whether or not the virtual machine is causing the problem (such as preventing VUDU To Go on the main OS from being able to access that drive).

        Re: Error reading DVD disc.

Using a DVD that successfully was identified on my laptop system, I ran the GraceNote sample.exe utility program that's in C:\Program Files (x86)\VUDUToGo\scripts\win against it from both my laptop where VUDUToGo works and from my desktop where it doesn't work for DVDs at all:

        Works:

        Disc Book Type: (DVD-ROM)

The difference being simply the error generated where I presume it's checking something about the key, which is returning an error:

        Media Type: DVD
        Disc Region: FE

        error 0x90230366 - gnsdk_tocgen_source_info(GNSDK_TOCGEN_INFO_KEY_IS_ CERTIFIED)
        line 125
        Disc Book Type: (DVD-ROM)

On the system that works, that sequence is:

        Media Type: DVD
        Disc Region: FE
        Certified: Yes
        Disc Book Type: (DVD-ROM)

So, not that this may help figure out what specifically is failing, at least it somewhat confirms it is in some manner related to that aspect of testing. Now to figure out what could possibly be interfering here...

If there's any potential use for that returned error code/line number, maybe others facing such issues could try this test and see if there's anything different reported there for them.

Any chance that error code might at least provide some more info to let me know what to investigate further?

That error is the line to make it fails for the encryption test. It is supposed to be shown only on the ISO mount, Virtual drive, but apparently it shows up consistently on some setup.

LocN, I still receive the following (repeatable) error on some titles:

There was a problem while verifying this disc.

Please try again later or contact Customer Care.
Is there a specific cause that triggers that message. Is there a fix or a workaround to get those titles to successfully be recognized by the program?

This is different with the disc read error. If you are certain that the disc wasn't acquired from rental service (netflix, holywood resale ...) then you can file a ticket with customer care. It can also on the reading of the TOC of the disc.

Thanks. Yes, I'm certain they're not rentals. Some were acquired directly from the manufacturer's web store (i.e. WBShop.com) and others through legitimate retailers (i.e. Amazon). I came across a number of DVDs today as well that also displayed that error message.

                  Re: Error reading DVD disc.

Chalk up another case of the problem being fixed by switching the SATA mode of the onboard controller where the DVD/Blu-ray drive is attached from RAID to AHCI.

If you've got this problem and want to try, just remember you need to enable the AHCI driver before making the change. The simplest way to do this in Windows 8 is:

From an elevated command prompt, configure the system to boot into safe mode, which will enable the AHCI driver:

                  bcdedit /set {current} safeboot minimal

Make sure you know your local Administrator account password, then reboot, enter the BIOS configuration and change the BIOS setting from RAID or IDE to AHCI, then reboot the system. You'll come up in safe mode. Log on and open an elevated command prompt and enter this command:

                  bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot

Then reboot again and your system will boot up normally.

This, of course, assumes you don't really need to be in RAID mode (as in you didn't specifically use that mode to set up a RAID array using devices attached to this controller). If you do, then you may succeed moving the DVD/Blu-ray drive to a different controller, if you have more than one.

If you have Windows 7 or earlier, you'll need to find other directions.

Just a shot in the dark, but that way you could rule out whether or not the virtual machine is causing the problem (such as preventing VUDU To Go on the main OS from being able to access that drive).
I completely shut down Virtualbox. Windows 8 is powered down, virtual box service stopped, process is not in the list. Still getting the following.

There was an error reading this disc.

You may take this disc to your nearest Walmart store for instant conversion.

We will need to acquire the disc and reproduce the issue and then communicate with GN for this type of error.

I also cannot get dvds to work on disc to digital. I did get 2 Blu-Ray to load. If anyone has found a fix, please let me know. I have uninstalled, re installed (Google chrome, adobe air, adobe flash, disc to digital, vudu, rebooted, Looked at the drive and division 1 (OK there) and still will not work..... Also, I do have a Walmart, but when I went in, the gal in the photo center did not have a clue what I was talking about, and she also called the next closest Walmart and that salesclerk did not know anything about it either. I also sent the DxDiag.txt into Vudu, but have not heard anything back on that as of yet. I have Windows 7 Home premium and Google Chrome. It appears that this has been an ongoing unresolved problem. Is there a good workaround out yet?? Thanks

Any chance this is a 64 vs 32 bit issue?

No, it's not 32 or 64 bit issue. Can you try an external USB drive?
There are at least 2 reports about RAID in the BIOS setting.
