Hansel & Gretel - Rated or Unrated?

Earlier today I redeemed the UV code from the Unrated 3D Blu-ray, and Vudu gave me the Rated-R version (HDX). A couple other posters have reported getting the Unrated version.

Someone in the "Current UV Copies what format SD or HD" thread says their code from the Rated-R disc gave them the Unrated digital copy. And a poster on the Blu-ray.com Forum says that redeeming at Flixtser gave the Unrated version.

So if you redeemed the UV code, did you get the Unrated or Rated-R version? Also, please post which disc the UV code came from. Thanks.

Re: Hansel & Gretel - Rated or Unrated?

Over on Blu-ray.com several people have reported redeeming their UV copy via Flixster and receiving the Unrated version. Vudu seems to only have the rated version available for redemption although both versions are UV.

VUDU only has the redeem button on the rated thus VUDU = rated UV. The artwork depicted on Flixster is Unrated, thus Flixster provides the Unrated UV Always make note of the artwork/redemption page for info on which version you will get.

I sent an email to Vudu customer service. Here's the response:

Thank you for contacting VUDU Customer Care. I will send this to our content team for further review but I can't guarantee that they will be able to change it to the Un rated version.
Maybe if enough people send them an email, they'll get it fixed. Here's the link to contact Vudu customer service:

Re: Hansel & Gretel - Rated or Unrated?

What I would really like to see become the de facto standard is that if a movie comes with both versions that it also provides both versions, if available, when you redeem the UV code. I know Sony did this, assuming you redeemed through them, for Total Recall but that was the exception rather than the norm.

I can verify this, I usually redeem through VUDU but really wanted the Unrated edition, was very surprised to get it from Flixster.

Re: Hansel & Gretel - Rated or Unrated?

I'm curious about this reported Rated version providing an Unrated VUDU copy because no US Blu-ray release is Rated that I can find. Is there a Rated only BD release in the US?

I also got the Rated version redeeming my code from the Unrated BR/DVD combo pack. Since someone already emailed VUDU, I will try my luck with Paramount and see if I can get them to change it somehow. I've never had to deal with their customer service before, so we'll see.

Just throwing my 2 cents in. Purchased the Unrated version and UV redeemed as R Rated version. Would rather have the Unrated...that being said, iTunes downloaded the Unrated version.

Re: Hansel & Gretel - Rated or Unrated?

Redeemed via Vudu because of past trouble with Flixster only to find out I should have used Flixster to begin with, doh!

Emailed Felipe here on the Vudu boards and was told it was a studio decision for it to redeem in the rated version. I emailed him and told him Flixster yields the unrated version. Got back to me and he told me he was informed that this was currently being worked on and he would get back to me when he heard an update.

Re: Hansel & Gretel - Rated or Unrated?

If you go to the UV redemption page at http://www.vudu.com/ecopy.html, there are two options for redeeming the Hansel and Gretel movie:
                        Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters
Double Feature - Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (Unrated) plus Sleepy Hollow

This second one suggests to me that the only way to get the Unrated Version from Vudu is to redeem the pre-order code that you buy from Walmart. So I suggest that if you want the extra 10 minutes of this movie you should probably redeem your code purchased with the Blu-ray at Flixster.

A while back I had trouble with the HD version of Jurassic Park while redeeming with VUDU. A wise member stated to me that when it comes to a choice of where to pick your redemption always go with studio or flixster first, and VUDU as a last resort.

I have been doing so since then and have had no trouble with getting the HD or the best version available.

I used Flixster tonight and received the unrated Hansel. Always use flixster or studio first and you should be golden.

How things have changed. Flixster used to be the worst place for redeeming UV Codes and getting HD.

I have access to my buddies VUDU and he has the Unrated version of H&G. He redeems everything via VUDU and has no Flixster account. His UVVU states redeem via VUDU on 6/12/13.
