    Subtitles

I was holding the title "Fun with Dick and Jane" (2005) until it was made available in HDX.

That occurred a few weeks back and I did a D2D DVD-->HDX conversion.

I watched it for the first time this past weekend and I noticed this title has subtitles/closed captioning.

Very few of my titles have this as an option on the bottom playback controls. This 2005 title does though.

Last I understood from Vudu support, closed captioning on English language films was not something they were going to support. Now it seems to be popping up more frequently.

I was wondering if other people have been noticing this on some of their older titles they are converting via D2D.

      Re: Subtitles

      Thank you for checking.

so, if I understand you correctly, those titles were previously w/o subtitles but now have them.

      Is that right?

For me it is sort of a big deal. I watch a lot in the bedroom and when my wife is sleeping or reading, it is nice for the subtitle option to be available so I can hold the volume low, but still be able to follow the dialog.

Not as much of an issue for me as someone who is hearing impaired or def, but still a feature I use often and enjoy having available.

Yep. I ran the same search several weeks ago, and there are a bunch of new titles showing now. I manually checked a few, and they were indeed showing they have captions now.

I also use the captions. My hearing is not that great, and I need to keep the volume down at the hotel. Some movies insist on sandwiching a conversation with loud action. At home, we watch a lot of UK content, where the accent can be hard to follow. Captions are a huge help.

no I can't. Checking account is full of goose eggs.

I wish the roku iOS app would have this feature, but I bet it would have A/V sync issues. Even still, it would be nice to retro the older roku units with this remote headset feature.

              anyway....

                Google:
                site:vudu.com "Available Subtitles: English" -episodes

The -episodes is to exclude TV shows. There are a lot with captions.

                        Re: Subtitles

Sony/Vudu have added subtitles to many of their movies that didn't have them before. There are also subtitles from other studios. Thanks for doing that.
