Resident Evil: Afterlife + Cinavia = Really?

I own Resident Evil: Afterlife on Blu-ray and I purchased the conversion to Ultraviolet. Why am I seeing a Cinavia error message 3 while trying to watch my movie?

    Hello johnny.thrash.

What device are you using to playback the movie? Are you streaming from Vudu or from your blu-ray disc?

I was watching it using the Vudu app on my Samsung Blu-ray Player.

Does your player support Cinavia? If it does my guess is Vudu used an encode from Sony with the Cinavia watermark and the player detected that watermark and determined it was an invalid copy. Sony is notorious for using Cinavia on their titles.

Can you provide me with your Blu-ray player model and current firmware version. I would like to see if we can duplicate this in house.

The biggest reason I was so surprised is that I bought the Blu-ray player from Walmart because it had the Vudu app. The model number is:

            BD-FM59

Not the highest end model by any means.

How about the firmware version? Do you have that information handy?

That player does use the Cinavia technology. On a different note, looks like Samsung released a new firmware for that player on 3 July.

If you haven't done so, I recommend that you update the firmware. If you continue to have issues then let us know.

The player had version 1010, I am upgrading it to 1011 and hopefully that will fix the problem.

Re: Resident Evil: Afterlife + Cinavia = Really?

I just found this thread and was hoping you could help me. I recently bought a Sony BD player with surround sound-model. I then purchased from Walmart a 3disc Kevin James movie set. It has the title of Laugh Out Loud, there were a few different ones. (The discs are not blue ray) I played one of the movies in my new player I got the Cinavia Message 3, it muted the audio output. I tried it again the next day and it did it again only at a different part in the movie. Doesn't this mean that it is an unauthorized copy? Why is Walmart selling this or is it the player? They took my movie back when I showed them this code (I took a picture of it), but am leary of buying movies from there now. Help & Thanks

This is more than likely an issue with your Blu-ray player. I would contact the manufacturer of your device for support.

I know this is a 2 year old topic, but was a fix for this ever found. I have a Samsung Blu-ray hts-e5500 and am getting the cinavia message 3 with audio mute after about 20 minutes. I am running the latest firmware as I just checked for updates right before I posted this. It said I was running the latest firmware. I am talking about resident evil afterlife as well, streaming from the vudu app on my Blu-ray player. I used the vudu to go on my computer to add the movie to my ultraviolet/vudu collection. I would certainly appreciate some help on this issue.

Please give the following a try:

Pause the video, wait 30 seconds for the audio to be un-muted, then play video from a different disc or stream for at least 10 minutes before continuing playback of this video.

If you continue to see this problem, you may want to try a factory reset.

If you continue to see the issue, after both of these options, please let me know.
