        Re: Sharing a UV Account

I'm curious as to how people are managing their Vudu and UV accounts across multiple family members and devices. Especially with children.

My daughter set up accounts on Vudu and UVVU, and I added her as a child account (Standard User) to my UV account. She can see her movies and mine.

            Re: Sharing a UV Account

            Long story short:

I will try to walk you through what you have to do. Here is the knowledge of what I got going on.

            1) You have a VUDU account with specific movies
            2) Your friend has a VUDU account with specific movies

What you want to do is:
            1) Merge the accounts together so that you both can watch movies.

            Am I correct?

Well here is the main problem I would like to bring to your attention. Ultraviolet (UV/UVVU) only allows TWO links to service providers (VUDU, CinemaNow, Flixster). Even though you can technically add SIX people to your UVVU account, only TWO of them can use a specific service (VUDU, CinemaNow, Flixster).

I am not bringing the information above up to say "DON'T SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS!", only that if you merge your UVVU accounts together, then you won't be able to add any other UVVU "users" to use VUDU (at the current point in time due to the very ignorant rule...) down the road.

If you are OK with this, then please continue onwards to do the merging process

            1) Log onto UVVU.com with YOUR account (Ultraviolet's website)
            2) Click "Our Account" or whatever
            3) Near "----- Household", click "Account Settings" or whatever is there
            4) On the right side, click "Merge Two Accounts"
            5) A new Log-in page will come up, log into your friends ORIGINAL UV account
-- WARNING, THERE IS NO WAY TO UNDO A MERGE!!!!!!!
            6) Make sure that you want to merge the account (your friends account) with your account and press continue.
            7) Click the checkmark box agreeing that you agree with the merge
            8) You are done, now on to your friends tasks

What your friend then has to do:
            1) Relink his VUDU account back up to UV (links are always removed on the 2ndary account after a merge)
            2) You are done

            What this will provide is:
            1) An Ultraviolet Account (UV/UVVU account) with a new person added (your friend)
            2) Access to all of his movies on your VUDU account, and all access to your movies on his VUDU account.

ONLY ULTRAVIOLET MOVIES WILL BE TRANSFERRED AS NON-UV MOVIES NEVER GO INTO THE LOCKER, WHICH THEN CANNOT BE SHARED.

Meaning, if you spent $200 for the Bond collection, only your VUDU account will have the Bond collection because there is no UV logo on the movies. Same with Disney movies, they don't like the idea of "a locker".

Question! If you do this and you have a sub account user and then merge with a friend... does that mean one of you no longer has access to vudu? (means they were unlinked)

If by sub account user, you mean someone else who is using the same VUDU login information as you (ie you share the account), than you can still merge with your friend. The limit is to, 2 separate VUDU accounts being linked via UV members. Just remember that each VUDU account can only have at maximum 5 devices to watch VUDU on.

I've only ever seen the 2 account limit when trying to link a vudu account to UVVU. I've never had a problem linking UVVU to Cinemanow and Flixster. I even recently had a problem logging in to Cinemanow so I created a new account and it linked fine. That would be 5 linked Cinemanow accounts with no problems. 3 of them recent additions within the last couple months.

                    Re: Sharing a UV Account

I'm finding all of these posts confusing. I just want to link the account I created for myself a couple of months ago to my son's account (and probably to my daughters' accounts). I couldn't find a way to link them. I sent my son an invitation, but he never found it. He sent me an invitation, but when I tried to accept his invitation (clicking on the Join son's library button in the email) it wants me to create a new account instead of letting me link to my account WHY? and What can I do to link our accounts so we both can share the movies we have each purchased? (He lives in the same home, but has a big library.) He doesn't want to merge accounts, and frankly, I'd prefer to keep them separate also.

Me too, it all seems so confusing to me when I wanted to do it that I gave up. I'm thinking of just merging accounts on UV to see what that does?
