"Digital Exclusives" (Content not yet available on disc)

What do you guys think of the digital exclusives that get released like 2-3 weeks ahead of disc release? Are you buying them? To me this seems like a scam and it makes no sense to buy a digital only version of a film when you could wait 2 weeks and get the disc AND the UV copy for SAME PRICE! It's just so tempting to buy the movie because i really want to see it..but i just have to restrain myself and wait for 2 weeks to get both the disc and the code.

Many of these were/are offered as an in-store preorder at Walmart. The in-store offers have the same content and, usually, the same early access to the actual movie. That is what I've been getting (still a little paranoid about giving up my physical media).

Also, there are a lot of folks out there who don't care about the extras. I know a few people like that (Like my Mother). These are probably more for that type of customer than the kind who cares about commentaries, making of docs, deleted scenes, etc....

I am one of those who don't care about the extras they are using to try to entice us to buy their movies early. I am more interested in something along the lines of what they did for the last Twilight film...we got two movies for the price of one. I would also be interested in getting a Vudu credit, something I can use to buy a movie that I really want.

I might be interested in the Man Of Steel extras, but I haven't really seen what that content is. If it contains an animated movie then I might be interested if my son doesn't already have it.

One thing I for sure will not waste an extra dollar or two on is special packaging like the metal case that one new pre-order will be packaged in.

those are all really good points. i will probably start doing the preorders from wal mart for the films i cant wait for. I am also having trouble convincing myself to abandon the discs as well. To me at least, it seems the quality on VUDU varies from movie to movie- i can tell a noticeable difference between the PQ on my Django blu vs. VUDU's copy, where the difference on "oz the great and powerful" was barely noticeable. The audio on "Ted" and "Inception" are awful (last time i watched them on VUDU). When you own hundreds of movies it is a pain to keep up with the discs/cases so in the end i will probably go all digital.
