    Sony Video Unlimited 4K Library getting UV support

    Sony starts delivering 4K downloads with Video Unlimited 4K service

    So check out the Full PR text:
    Select purchased titles include an UltraViolet? digital version of the movie or TV show, enabling consumers to further enjoy their content on the go (in high definition or standard definition).
    So Sony's adding UV purchasing to its 4k Video Unlimited library? It sound like like regular HD UV codes not 4k ones though.

    Then that would suggest it'll eventually make its way to the rest of its Video Unlimited/PSN store. Sony may have a Top 3 video service anymore, but would still be a positive considering all Playstation devices and Sony smart devices that come with UV/PSN.

    So PS-Network is a UV vendor now?

      Re: Sony Video Unlimited 4K Library getting UV support

      Right now, it's only the 4k section of their Video Unlimited store (which requires their 4k box). I would imagine if they're adding it to that, they'll probably add UV support to the rest of the store at some point. Maybe 4k section is smaller trial run with UV integration.

      I do remember a while ago UV was in "active talks" with existing digital retailer. I figured it might be Google Play or Sony or one of those smaller ones.

        We need better bitrates on digital HD content rather than a 4k upgrade. Are we really ready for 4k yet? Sony trying to sell a few extra PS4's? No thanks!

          I was wondering about this when I read the announcement. I hope they roll it out to the full store, so all the past movies people have purchased will get added. This should add a lot of new accounts. I would think in the millions.

            Pricing was mixed I thought.

            $7.99* Rental
            $29.99* Purchase
            * Starting

            The rental price is a bit high if you use say 3D as the closest reference. The purchase price on the other hand is a bargain by comparison where 3D (digital) purchase would typically be $35(ish). It would seem they are pushing the own model, heavily.

            I didn't really look to see if there was anything but what about 3D 4K, if HDMI 2.0 even supports it and you can even stream it, and Sony would support it on the store I don't know if it would fit into that pricing or not, doubt it.
