I cancelled my Amazon order for $24.99. I then printed the deal from Walmart for $19.96. It should be noted that the online site said "Out of Stock". I then went to Walmart and you're not going to believe this. They don't match their own online prices at the store. What a crock! I then went over to Best Buy and they price matched the Walmart online price. I've never heard of any company not matching their own online prices, have you?

It was in stock for a few hours and then went out of stock. I am sure they sold thousands as it was posted on every deal site on the web.

Walmart has never pricematched their own site, and I don't like it either. I was able to get them to do it once becuase I showed them that the online option said I could pick it up in store today. They did it for that one, as I could have placed the order right then and waited for them to fill it. Not everything will allow you to pickup the same day though.

Do online chat with Amazon CSR. They added a $6 Promo to account that was linked to the Star Trek 3D Blu-Ray. I canceled my order. Re-ordered. Bamm.

I don't think Amazon will always to this? I've tried before and it really depends on who you get on the other end...Also, I didn't have to wait for their very slow shipping method if you get the free shipping. I have the movie with me now.

It's not Amazon's policy. It's an exception, but it never hurts to ask. If you have Prime, or live near a shipping hub then it's not necessarily slow.

I also misread your post and thought that Walmart was sold out online and wouldn't price match at the store so you were SOL. I missed the part about picking up at BB.

            Cheers.

This was a thread about preorders, not online pricing for ST. Please discuss that on the Star Trek thread.

That is what's being discussed...the Star Trek preorder. And pricing is one reason why some of us are unhappy with Walmart preorders and are either waiting till the release date to buy the movie cheaper or preordering with Amazon.com or some other online DVD store.

Re: I might be done with Walmart preorders

I just did my first 3 preorders via WalMart with Iron Man 3, Despicable Me 2, and WWZ.

It sounds petty, but yeah the Preorder art shown in Vudu is really annoying. Plus I'm betting with Amazon's auto price match, that ends up as the better deal most of the time.

Early viewing is ok, but kind of takes the glamor out of the disk's arrival. I'd say these are probably my last ones unless they clean up the box art, since Vudu is the primary portal that I use for UV.

Same as before. You pay $5 extra for early viewing and a sealed copy provided in advance of release you don't have to open to add digital copy to your account. There's some value there for only $5.

For the $5 though I would MUCH prefer 3D myself.
I bet it will be closer to $19.99 when it releases on disk. I would have bought the pre-order at $19.99. $5 extra may be worth it but not $10.

Re: I might be done with Walmart preorders

I spoke to a rep today from the VUDU/Wal Mart fulfillment center about my Man of Steel preorder. She told me that there are three different preorders.

                          1. The $26 preorder that came out in June with the lenticular magnet - she said this one will only come with the Amaray (this is the one I did and redeemed June 14th)

                          2. The STEELBOOK preorder that is on the Wal-mart website now

                          3. A more recent, $30 preorder that references a steelbook on the preorder packaging - she said this is an in-store promo.

Can anyone on here refute or confirm this? I bought the preorder in June hoping and assuming that the "exclusive" packaging reference on the j-card with the lenticular magnet would come with the steelbook. Otherwise why include a G2 sized magnet that fits perfectly on a steelbook?

***I also asked the VUDU rep where my Oblivion metalpak was, since it never shipped with my original order. She said they are finally starting to receive them and that they should ship soon***

I got my Oblivion metalpak yesterday. It was just an empty case, which was expected; but it had a very nice glossy finish front and back, and great artwork inside and out, which was NOT expected.

                            Thanks Walmart/Vudu!

As the title says I also might be done with Walmart pre-orders at least in the case of Disney movies. Has anyone that did the Iron Man 3 pre-order notice Disney didn't offer the option to purchase the 3D disc for a small fee? I received this offer when I bought Oz The Great And Powerful and Supper Buddies which were not Walmart pre-orders for me. Unless this changes I won't buy Disney Walmart pre-orders anymore. Now I wish I didn't buy Monsters University Walmart pre-order.

It wasn't a preorder, but I am mad because I bought Iron Man 3 Blu-ray Combo pack and it was supposed to have had a code for Vudu, but it didn't have ANY code whatsoever!
