    MARS ATTACKS

MARS ATTACKS is the ONLY movie in my Ultraviolet/Vudu collection that will not play on a streaming device. It lists the movie on the VUDU homepage in My Movies, but doesn't show up on any of my streaming devices. I can watch this on my computer only. Why?

You would think something like this would not be a big issue.

So, my collection online is 208 movies, but on my Roku, it is 207. So aggravating!

Mars Attacks is one of about 5 that I have that will not appear on my Roku device. Here are all the movies that I know about that will not show/play on Roku and maybe some other devices:

    Mars Attacks!
    Pale Rider
    Scooby-Doo and the Samurai Sword
    Dial M For Murder
    Blood Work

I entered a case back in July asking them to get a new version of the movie that will stream on Roku. They closed my case without a resolution. I have just entered a new case to jog their memory. It wouldn't hurt for you to also enter a case. My thinking is that the more people are screaming about something, the more likely it will get addressed.

For a time, it wouldn't show up on my streaming devices. I contacted support. I never received a response, but the movie started showing up on my devices after I reported the problem. It has shown up on all devices ever since. I have found others online mention that it wouldn't show up for them on their devices.

I thought it was just me having this issue. I find it both curious and disturbing that these are all Warner Bros titles who owns Flixster. Vudu has a Roku streaming app and Flixster does not. Are they trying to level the playing field? I hope not. This is another reason I'm getting more and more nervous about having movies in the cloud. We literally have very limited control over our collection and are at the mercy of streaming providers and content owners.

              Re: MARS ATTACKS

It is a known problem that some titles will not show up on ROKU due to audio content, apparently ROKU is unable to process the audio content and they will not show up in the ROKU locker.

Silverado is one of those that will not show up in the ROKU title count, and it was one of the precursors to recognizing this issue.

The issue was confirmed by VUDU in another thread (can not remember which one for the life of me). So, my Blu Ray players reflect one in same number of titles as VUDU on line, but ROKU does not due to this issue, as it relates to certain titles and their audio content.

I agree, but we are suppose to have more "freedom" when it comes to streaming devices. That being said, I have nearly 1100 titles and only these 5 I am having a problem with. I doubt the fact that these five are all WB titles means there is any kind of conspiracy going on because I have many other WB titles that work just fine.

Vudu indicated that they would have to notify the studio and wait for a new version of the movie to be created and that it might take some time. I don't know if WB has been contacted or not. If they have, I don't know how long ago and how many times WB has been reminded of this problem.

They must have fixed it then, because at one point it was a problem "child"

"City of Angels" (1998) is another absent from Roku. I too opened a support case and got the same response that it is due to a known audio incompatibility issue with the Roku and both Vudu and Roku engineers are working on a fix.

Interesting...I was told that the problem was with the Roku device not being able to read these files. Sounds like the problem is more wide spread.

No, I was saying it DOES play on my Panasonic Blu-ray player. However, at one time it did not show up but now the issue seems to have worked itself out. I did contact support about it and it was quickly fixed.
